ohhh I would love the girls or chicks hmmm. white empordanesa are about 8 months so older hens would be nice. the only thing is the run I use to seperate them is the same I will be using for the chicks that hatch... hmm let me ponder this a bit.I could put a few in the incubator for you Cooper. Or, I have a couple of extra Isbar girls ( a splash and a black) if you want to get the project going sooner. I could trade for olive egger hatching eggs when you get some.
I think with the isbar's and the white emp's you would get some dark olive eggs. once my penedesenca and empordanesa start laying I can get you some eggs. My Crele Penedesenca I hatched where from some very dark terra cotta eggs. Empordanesa are basically white penedesenca. I have 5 Crele Penedesenca hens , 1 partridge penedesenca hen and 2 White Empordanesa hens that should be laying soon. I can not wait to start hatching my Crele's and white Emp's. this summer Will probably have a few roosters shipped in to really kick the penedesenca and empordanesa breeding program into high gear.Speaking of downsizing...I ordered an assortment of dark egg layer hatching eggs from MPC today.I want to try to get a small fresh egg business going this spring and I only have four layers right now. I have Judge Judy and Martha Stewart who rarely lay anymore. The there's Cathy, my lazy Wellie, and Skye, my equally lazy Ameraucana. Gonna' be hard to start a business with these slackers!![]()
I am going to move the Icelandics to the smaller coop that the layers are in now and use the big coop for my layers. I plan to keep my Icelandic flock small anyway. Right now I have Lukka and Isi, the pretty blue roo, and five gorgeous pullets, no two alike. I also have Lukka's three babies who are probably all roos anyway. I don't plan to sell Icelandic hatching eggs necessarily and I can add the white eggs to the eating eggs. I can move a couple of Isbars and a couple of Cream Legbars to the layer coop too. I might move dear Stella in with the layers too. She will be closer to the house that way too so I can keep my eye on her. Then all I need are my dark egg layers and a couple of olive eggers to have nice pretty eggs to sell. I am on the prowl for nice dark olive eggs if anyone knows of a source. I have a PM out to Wynette. I think she has some nice ones. I know Kathy does, but I think hers are all running together these days since the big downsizing.

I kept the younger of my two cream legbar cockerels. He is crested and only has five points on his comb. The older one has 7 or 8 which is too many per the proposed standards for the US cream legbars. He also did not have a crest. One nice thing about having smaller coops is the need to go for quality versus quantity. I'll be kicking myself if anything happens to Reggie Jr. but I have to limit myself on roos for my own sanity. Somehow I just can't part with the pretty blue Icelandic boy though. He is still young, but may be the prettiest Icelandis roo I have had. I'll try to get a picture tomorrow.

Oh, and sweet, shy, little Laverne says hello. Oh my goodness how I love that little goat. She talks to me with her eyes. I have to watch out for her because her sister is a mean girl and won't let her eat.

Here is Shirley trying to make her come out of her dogloo. She finally head butted her until she came out! Bully!

Can you believe the zebra stripes on the dogloos? Allen painted the shelter late in the day and there was so much dew the next morning that paint fell like rain! I may have to give them a full coat of paint because they look awful. I am like that. Maybe camouflage?![]()
