So..........all you had to do was smell his foot?

I hope Jack feels better soon, and I'm happy you got a better diagnosis.

Sweet Pea, our mini donkey , said to tell Jack to hang in there. She had white line disease once and we had to keep her foot wrapped but we were lucky, since she is so small we were able to use a dog booty on her. Hope Jack is feeling better real soon.

That only works when there is drainage. There wasn't any until they found a tiny amount on the hoof exam. I am so glad we had these guys out. The vet was great and she brought a vet tech to help handle Jack. She numbed hid hoof and did a nerve block but it was still too much for him to cooperate with the X-ray process so she sedated him. They were here about 2 and a half hours in the blazing hot sun but never seemed rushed.

The vet says the boots made for horses rarely fit donkeys and they don't stay on them. They used duct tape and a baby diaper to hold the poultice in place. Jack is hating it and dragging the foot sideways, but necessary to draw the infection out.

Tell Sweet Pea Jack says "thanks." Diana said to tell her, "Noboby gets between me and my man! (name that reality show)

Jack seems a bit better this morning. At least he is touching the foot with the boot to the ground instead of dragging it sideways. The abscess is deep and large and in a difficult spot for drainage. The vet said because of that, it might take a couple of weeks or more to resolve. She said one she treated in that area of the hoof took five weeks. So we'll take it day by day for now. The big challenge will come when we have to change the boot ourselves. It has a roll of duct tape around the hoof!

My oldest child is 9 today! Where has my baby gone!

Phew my day's work is nearly done... his request for dinner tonight was lasagna- my favorite, too!
