Stella's Social Club

Yah yah, Mary is so neat and clean and organized. You know it can be a sickness in some people like OCD, etc. However, I think Mary shows us her "public" rooms she probably has a hidden kitchen, bedrooms, etc that are a horrible mess, just like mine, with mismatched furniture, 20 random items on a kitchen countertop that stay there, despite never being used etc.

Okay I feel better now.
I've been in her house. She has no messes. Michael on the other hand......

Just opened a box of 10# of pecans from Hickabilly Housewife - delicious. Had to try them, even though my lip was numb from dentist visit for crown #2. And of course bit my lip. Worth it, though!
Yummy!

Emily and I found this cool little shadow box at the Antique Mall on Wednesday. I added the sign, chick and eggs. I hung it above the antique secretary in the living room.

Yikes it looks really crooked in the picture but it really isn't. Must have been me that was crooked!
Very cute!

If I ever get tired of having a breakfast table in the kitchen I might just put higher legs on it. It's solid oak, made from what was left of the countertops after I sawed them to size, it would actually make a quite decent butchers block table, only drawback is that it's only 2 feet wide.

Would you consider trading one of those puppies for Emily? I just told her I wanted to slap her so bad I'd risk the domestic violence charge! :celebrate

Backsplash done. I didn't want to overdo the tin look so I added chalkboard behind the little desk area in the kitchen. I need to get more moulding tomorrow to cover up some bad cuts! :D

The first day Emily was here we went through all my spices (lots) and tossed the outdated ones. Many of them didn't have dates so we tested them and then decided. I am down to a much more reasonable number since combining duplicates too.

I haven't decided what we will be doing tomorrow, maybe organizing and cleaning the service porch. It is easily the messiest space we have. Ugly (back me up here Kelly) white vinyl flooring and godawful mauve countertops. I am going to be changing out the laminate countertops for a better color and having new flooring put in. I think the mauve countertops are from the late 60's, as in 1960's. Before we get flooring I ned to add some stepping stones out the back door to cut down on the mud tracked in.

These are all things we planned to do when we bought the place but just took a oouple of years getting around to it.
