Super super happy with the cake I made this week! Just finished it! It's for my sister's 18th birthday party tomorrow. We are having a birthday/Christmas party with all my family for her and her twin. My mom is making Micah's cake, but Mariah requested I make her a PIANO cake.

That is gorgeous Rinda! I think your sister is going to be very pleased with that.

Oh my gosh, that is awesome! Inquiring minds wanna know how it was put together. I can see a larger round cake on the bottom, and a smaller round cake on the top, but the piano part?

And sheesh! I thought you were done making cakes for this year!

Awesome job!

Question, several years ago my wife and I decided not to buy Christmas presents for each other. We also have an agreement that the only stores I have to go to between Thanksgiving and New Years is grocery stores and TSC. Today my wife thought we should go onto amazon and show each other things we might want, sounded like shopping to me so I said no. My question is what do I get her for Christmas?

a blank check - works for me

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the cake! It was a four layer chocolate cake with raspberry filling. I only had one 8 inch cake round pan so I had to cook them one at a time, took forever. Then chill and level them. Here's with the stack and crumb coat, chilling to make it nice and firm. Then I used a toothpick to trace where I wanted to cut, and a serrated steak knife to scuplt the cake. Then I crumb coated the newly cut "shelf" and chilled again before putting the final icing layer on.

Took 3 cake mixes and 3 batches of Wilton's buttercream icing recipe. But went together much faster than I thought!
