Hard to believe, I know...... It is currently 50° here, and it is forecasted to hit 64° today.

Kathy, We are having some warmer than average weather too! Here is a pic I took this morning of some of the flock out enjoying the recently rained on grass. That's what I said, RAIN, no snow on the ground in the middle of January!!

......and look how green the grass is looking from just a couple of day of 40 degree weather! I hope none of those mommas get any ideas.........I know the other shoe will be dropping here before true spring arrives.....but for now we are enjoying it!!

44 degrees right now at my place... heading up to 49 for the high today.

Give it a couple of days and you guys will all be in the deep freeze.... just like us.

We got a little rain last night, too! A couple of my pens are muddy.
The Weather Person on TV today said that a bit of cold air broke off from Alaska and spilled down to us in CA last night. There is very little moisture with it, but a bit of wind to keep the fog away. This morning the fields looked white in some places, like we had snow on the ground!

Home Depot will make a fortune this week--All those broken PVC pipes will need to be replaced now!

Green grass!! Yay for warmer weather. We had warmer that usual weather too for northern Minnesota. 40 and sunny yesterday; which made a perfect day to clean out pens. I cleaned 7 of the 10 and boy does my back know it. Today is around 34* with rain/freezing drizzle. I'll take the snow over the freezing stuff anyday. Schools are closed because of it. We northerners can handle snow and cold, but when it comes to freezing rain, we are wimpy. We still have snow, but a see a few bare patches where we've plowed.

Sorry for those who are having colder than normal temps. That weather will be this direction by early next week, I'm sure.

We've had a nice melt off and some rain too. I think the high was 47 yesterday? It's all muddy, soggy and stinky, but I'll take it. Tomorrow it changes though, back dow to twentys and teens over night. Ah well, spring is coming!

That is a good idea Kelly but he is going to Kathy. I do think I will make the change to move my layers into the middle, largest coop and the Icelandics into a smaller coop. I don't plan to breed them to sell hatching eggs anymore since all the drama, so I nice cozy little coop will be fine for them. I think I will put them in the coop closest to the house. Lukka will try to fill the coop up of course but I can always her-home her babies when she gets tired of them. I will go out and take pics of her current group as soon as my hands thaw out. I was just out feeding them cut up pumpkins left on the front porch from Fall decorating! It has been so cold there wasn't even a soft spot on them. They are sure enjoying the treat.
