Stella's Social Club

Kathy, for the wry neck/star gazer - it's very common in silkies. They give polyvisol pediatric drops (NO IRON), a few drops of vit.e (pierce a capsule and squeeze some out.) My friend used to put on a piece of grape, so the babies would gobble it up themselves. Sometimes they need prednisone treatment with vet's authority. If there is some flexability to the neck, some short , frequent massage is also beneficial.I think because they were' torn' from the eggs - the people caused damage to them. ^$^%#^& them, who do they think they are??

The splayed feet, I'm sure you can handle- with non-skid flooring under them (grippy drawer liners, whatever, and the bandaid hobbles. For more serious cases - small chicks are sometimes put into a tea cup because it keeps feet under them. I would think some household object would fit a baby emu. I forgot what thread but, one woman and kids made a support of lego blocks that worked great for a young chick, I think her name was Butter. It took time but, she blossomed.

I bet they didn't keep them warm either. How can people treat new borns like that - they just want the $$$$$$. I'm so sorry for them and you. I know they will thrive with you IF the sellers didn't louse them up in a big way internally. They need lots of lovin' and they will certainly get that with you and your family. Have to think of this as a brand new day with everything getting better for the babies from this time forward.

re-reading what you wrote just makes me madder. The jerks probably decided they would all hatch on one day to get rid of them - no doubt some were not ready to hatch - I too wondered why they were hatching so fast - I figured the seller/breeder whatever had done it so often, she had it down to a science. Stupid me.

First things first, get babies well. Second complain about seller where it will do the most good. No one should have to go thru what you have. This was supposed to be a wonderful experience. Based on all this, I wouldn't put much stock in them following proper procedure for matching tissue & chick for dna results.

I am using poultry Nutra-Drench. I don't know if any of them will make it.
Not ONE single baby was allowed to hatch. Every single one was cracked and pulled out of its egg. One died. One here has a bump like thing on back of its head.
I didn't think they looked like a natural hatch with the huge hole in the shell and the amount of blood on the membrane.

Poor babies. I hope they improve.
