Stella's Social Club

Thanks Mike and Kathy!

OK I just submitted my food photographs for the assignment for week 2. We were supposed to take pictures using every angle, close-up, lens, etc, using the light information we learned last week. I had a really difficult time with this one because my camera and lens are huge and my back was hurting from cleaning the garage. To get the big lens to focus with and extension ring on it I had to be right on top of my subject. The tripod wash't holding the weight of the camera and lens and I was having to lean over and manually focus. I took several hundred pictures and now can barely stand! After the class is over I will try to incorporate what I learned into using my small camera! It just won't work for this class though. Anyway, here are my submissions. I always seem to revert back to straightforward shots.

Critiques are tomorrow!

If I had to take pics of food like that.....the person that critiques better be happy with empty plates with just a couple of crumbs left!

When I lived in Kentucky I would take my toddler son to a local petting zoo. They had Emus running loose on the property and we always took snacks for the animals. We never had a problem, and now I know just how lucky we were.

I have a picture of my 2 year old son feeding a wallaby at a petting zoo. After I took the pictures, I started noticing things like their nails. Then I heard that they will rear up on their tails and use their feet to kick at you.

Kathy, thanks a million. Now maybe I'll get some respect. My parents were always rather vague about my ancestors. They used to mumble about assimilation diluting the bloodline. All I know is I got the head ,obviously, but not the MASSIVE brain.

Oh dear I missed the bus on that one.

I'm shopping for a dishwasher... The kind that goes under the counter. Yer basic model will do, BUT I am starting to like the "quiet" ones because my house is so small. Then there are the kinds with disposals built in for "larger food particles." I don't have a disposal in the sink because I have chickens.

But really, something to wash the dishes for me, because I'm not fond of washing by hand. Plus, the pets lick the plates when I'm done with 'em, so a really hot wash would be best.

Is Maytag a reliable brand? (Would like real users to share, rather than depend upon Maytag commercials, y'know?)

There's a steel finish Maytag on sale.... Free shipping/home delivery. Don't need installation from the company as I have this handy contractor who has already mentioned he would install it, running the discharge into the grey water lines.

Thoughts?
