Very nice brooder Jason. When are you going to start looking for a bigger property?

Is it just my family, or all families?

I am my parents' oldest child. They had 4 daughters in 5 years. And then....I have an adopted brother that is 11 years younger than me. As the story goes.....
He was found being neglected, in a bar (by my dad's brother, Uncle Ronnie), with his parents there drinking. My uncle told my dad she and her husband were unfit, as they were both drunks and this was their 10th child. (I do believe there was some sort of blackmail that went on, to get the mother to agree to adopt this boy out). Their other kids were all in foster care, but never adopted out. Anyway, that's "the story."

UNTIL NOW ! ! !

My parents died in 1979 and 1999. My uncle is dead, too.
Newsflash..... my adopted brother was actually fathered by my uncle.

How did he find this out? I'm not real sure on all the exact details, but something about my brother wanting to know why he was to go to my Uncle (as a guardian) if anything happened to my folks. (I think he was reading their will). This was odd, because only he was. So he started asking relatives and someone "overheard," the story. Something like that.....

Mmmm -- linebreeding..... LOL

Ok, I thought of something in my family to say here.... And Now I have NOT an earthly what it was. I have been sitting here staring for 5 min waiting for it to come to me. So pretend I had something interesting to say, becuse that is a cool story you had there!

I vote for a DNA test too!

At least one of the five flock eggs I put under Sparkle, my recently acquired house silkie, started peeping when I checked for pips. Tomorrow is Day 21. (No external pips yet.)

I am so excited!

It's not like it's my first broody or anything, but it IS the only one I've had right in the house... Plus, Sparkle is special.

Okay, everybody in the flock is special. Miss Sparkle is just specialer.

I am hoping for a news update on Miss Sparkle and family!

So cute Kathy!

I loved the video, brought a smile to my face!

I loved it, too! I watched it a couple times.

The situation with Tucker escalated today. Police report filed and we will be traveling to the Bay Area tomorrow to meet with the animal law attorney. The retainer is $2000.00. Good grief, what a mess.

I am so sorry you have to go through this nonsense! We all know Tucker is where he needs to be! Keep him and don't give in to those fanatical nincompoops.

I always hope I am done with that.

Miss Sparkle has hatched TWO chicks! There are three more eggs under her, no external pips yet, but the first chick hatched last night within two hours of me discovering the solid but peeping egg.

The second chick was out and fluffed when I got up around 7:30 this morning. Sparkle let me pick each of them up to check them out. She just fluffs up and chitters quietly, never a peck at me.

Because these are banty eggs from my flock, their heritage is quite mixed. We are a non-discriminating flock. ;). I just made sure to select bantam eggs so Sparkle wouldn't have to deal with babies towering over her as they got older. Two green eggs, one light tan/pink, two medium brown.

She has a yellowy chick with feathered shanks and a mostly black chick with clean shanks. Sparkle got some cheesy scrambled duck egg this morning for breakfast.

Beth laid her egg in "her" laundry bin nest and Punkin laid her egg in "her" dog bed this morning as usual. Zorro my elderly dachshund started digging between the pillow and the sides of the dog bed after I removed Punkin's egg; apparently he had hidden his baby carrot treat there last night.
 No wonder he was so worried about that big Buff Orp settling in there to lay!
