That sounds so delicious.I also found a recipe for poaching the pluots in Riesling wine - I think I'll try that.
So far this year the garden has produced a handful of cherry tomatoes, one Black Russian, two Johnson Pinks, and two yellow squash - apart from some lettuce that has been it. It has been so cool here - highs in the upper 60's for the last 2 weeks - that the tomatoes are struggling. Hope my potatoes do well! And as far as apples, I have 6 total on 3 trees. Last year no apples at all due to a late frost, and the year before the crows ate every apple off the trees in 3 days - before I could figure out where they were going (I suspected an upright 2 legged predator since they just disappeared without a trace). A little discouraging!
We got our square bales put up today for the winter, and round bales will be coming in a few weeks once the fairs are all over. It is always a relief to have the feed stored away, last year we were very lucky and had plenty of hay, some others around here were paying a fortune for hay as it was scarce by midwinter. Right now the horses are on grass full time, and they look great - shiny and fat.
