This is a great recipe for pulled pork! LOVE it! Very simple too!

Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork in the Slow Cooker

2 1/2-3 lb pork butt (also known as a pork shoulder)
24 oz. (2 cans) Dr. Pepper
1 medium onion, cut in quarters and then again in half
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 1/2 teaspoons dry ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Salt and black pepper to taste
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
Barbecue Sauce of choice

Place the chopped onions in the bottom of the slow cooker. Place the pork butt on top of the onions and add the garlic, ground mustard, cayenne pepper, salt, pepper, apple cider vinegar and Worcestershire sauce. Pour the Dr. Pepper on top and cook on high for 4-5 hours (or on low for 8 hours).

Very carefully, because the pork will be hot, remove the meat from the slow cooker and place on a large cutting board. Using two forks, shred the pork by pulling away from each other. The meat should be very tender by this point. Place the shredded pork back into the slow cooker and continue to cook for an additional hour.

Drain the remaining juices and toss the meat and onion mixture in the barbecue sauce of choice. I don't have an exact amount listed-just add a bit at a time until you get to your desired sauciness!

yum yum yummmm!

It's just you, Mary. You're special.

Or maybe you're from the Planet Zoltan and your native language is coming back to you, eh??

I'm not having any issues, but then, I don't have a MAC and I am using the current version of Firefox. Never have any problems like that, or so far, I haven't.

My DH is a pulled pork master. He uses his secret rub he developed, then smokes the pork butt for over 12 hours, spraying it with a special liquid. No BBQ sauce needed. It's true southern BBQ. Yum! But the recipe you posted sounds good if you don't have the time to do that. It does wear you out, always going out to check on the meat.

Oh, Kathy, I've always thought of you as "offline", honey.

What's wrong with me this morning? Guess I stayed up too late. I did have a fox in my yard two nights ago. Heard a call from one I'd never heard, the howl. Sounded almost like a protracted rooster alarm, then I realized my birds were stone silent (baby monitor in the coop).

This was the call: http://www.angelfire.com/ar2/thefoxden/farcry.wav

I posted about it and someone posted this youtube that had tears of laughter rolling down my face. It's hysterical!

Kathy, if you like a little spice, you can also add a can of chipotles ( I get little cans of chiptle salsa in the mexican food section) - just pour it over the top of the pork with the dr pepper.

That granite looks like a dark and stormy night.

Lawatt, where did you get your butcher block? I have an island I want a butcher block top for.

Safari is limited in upgrades by the OS. Do you have the newest Operating system on your Mac? If not, upgrade the OS and then Safari will be upgraded.

Weird Mac stuff.....

the butcher block came from Lumber Liquidators, i'm pretty sure (two years ago) -- i got a 8' long piece and a 12' long piece, and together i think they were about $600. it's definitely not the highest quality, but it got me started (the previous owner of my house had installed *brick* countertops, utterly bizarre -- they were gritty & uneven & absolutely impossible to clean), and they're holding up pretty well -- here are some pictures:

before -- notice the horrible brick countertops, and the stainless steel sink that i didn't like (i bought the old stove off craigslist, & it cost more to have the movers deliver it than i paid for it!), and the unfinished cabinets -- the previous owner had started this whole renovation, but stopped part-way through when he ran out of money (I bought the house as a short sale, it was in terrible shape)

after #1 (i'd also painted the cabinets by then)

after #2, with new sink (yay!), and drawer pulls added
