I can't make many of the recipes I see, simply cuz I ain't never even heard a half the ingredients 'afore! Ya know what I'm asayin'??? I see those words and I just skip right on out of that recipe! If I don't know what the heck it is, I sure can't cook it! I wouldn't even know where to go shop for it!

Lemongrass rice?
penne pasta?
tilapia?
Queso Fresco?
Cotija cheese?
Basmati rice?

Seriously though, I know there alot of folks just like me that don't try recipes with words or food never before in our vocabulary!

I made egg salad sandwiches today.

Kathy I make egg salad sandwiches too but, I trick them out with potato chips. I don't like "mooshy foods," potato chips add crunch and keep foods off the roof of my mouth.

I love tilapia (fish, Kathy). The other stuff, I never use, some I don't really know what it is. What keeps us from trying recipes is cost. We simply cannot afford the ingredients on those fancy recipes on the pension of a retired Air Force Msgt. We keep it simple and cheap and as healthy as we can within our very limited budget. On the other hand, Tom has learned to make some mean chicken quesadillas and enchiladas, just what we need to stay slim...NOT. But, oh so good!

Speaking of Air Force, our Blue Roo contest is underway (every artisan has military ties, hence the segue), so you folks sign up and enter! The prizes are posted in each category. Maybe later, we can have more elaborate prizes, but check it out! We'd love to see some more familiar faces.

It poured rain all night. Expected to have about 10 days of dry weather, but about 10* cooler ,both day and night. Fall is really here. Leaves are turning and falling with a vengeance.The tiptop of a sourwood tree is all bright red in our back area, like a bad red hair dye job.

I am sooooooo tired. Worked on a craft project much of the day and blogged. Tomorrow Kelly is going to meet me at Tractor Supply so I can borrow her son's muscle to get my 50# bags off the shelf. They moved the emu food to the highest shelf and I literally have to grab a corner and pull the bags off into the floor then pick them up. Michael will be here on the other side to take them out of the car. I still have lots of sutures and shouldn't be lifting.

Kelly, bring me some popcorn. I have been beating the Cub Scouts off with a stick at the Holiday Market!

Yummy. I'll have the popcorn stuff with me. It can be his reward for his loading ability.

focaccia bread? - flat bread with basil, it's yummy!
Ciabatta rolls? - sourdough like rolls
Lemongrass rice? - never heard of it, but lemongrass is an herb.
penne pasta? - my son calls them "tube noodles"
tilapia? - white fish, illegal in some places because they breed like crazy
Queso Fresco? I've never used it, but it's a soft cheese similar to cream cheese
Cotija cheese? Never used it. I'm sure Mary would know, she's the cheese hoarder.
Basmati rice? Never used it, but it's a type of rice.

Some of the recipes are crazy with ingredients that you don't usually have on hand, so cost is a big factor too in whether I will try a recipe. I don't want to go buying a ton of stuff I'll never use again if I don't like the recipe.

I wish I could send you some rain. We've been having thunderstorms and downpours.

My DW had been out of town, so I took the opportunity to watch horror movies the evenings she was gone. Saturday night she tells me the GPS says she'll get home at 10:45 p.m. It's storming, at 9:45 p.m. the backdoor bell rings, it startled me. It was her, she padded her time incase she stopped to sit down and eat.

I just want a bit of rain, not a huge downpour. On second thought, we have an oak tree we have to cut down first. The whole back side of it is rotted out, and we're afraid it's going to fall. Gotta get that done before it starts raining.

I am out of commission today. I tripped on a tie-down strap used to keep the hay bin from falling apart. I didn't realize it was too long so the extra part of the strap was on the ground covered with hay. It got caught around my foot, and I kept walking not knowing it. When I got to the end of the line I took a hard face plant onto the ground. Wracked up my knee, my back and an elbow. Sutures didn't rip out thank goodness. I'll be laying down in recovery mode today. I was looking forward to meeting Kelly at Tractor Supply today! OH good grief, if I had imagined those words coming out of my mouth a few years ago I would have laughed. Now going to tractor Supply is entertainment!

Off to shower the dirt and blood off me. Tylenol, the couch, a blanket, a pillow and Tucker closely thereafter.

I'd make egg salad too but I am out of eggs.
