I have Isbar eggs Jason. Not right now but I will later in the week. Molly is picking up what I have tomorrow and then I owe a few to another person. I would have some available after that.
hmmm maybe if I can make it that way. I will get mine Wednesday night and put them in the bator Thursday. I dont like adding later to my bator ( get it lol)
seems to mess up the later eggs.

OMG he just told me that he threw the box of firewood I paid for on there to get the thing going! Between the gas, diesel, flares, diesel can, and my firewood he thinks this is about a $60 fire!

I think I am going to go right now and order another dark egg layer assortment and try again. That's about a $60 purchase.

I like your way of thinking!

Mary,
have had alot of people say they are having bad luck with Gabbard who sells to my pet chicken. I got 0 out of 120.00 in eggs. heard the same from 2 others recently

Ok yikes. I had a blue copper Marans hatch and it was the stickiest chick I have ever seen. After letting it rest a bit I gave it a rinse in warm water and a blow dry. It's wings were stuck to it's body and so was one leg. Even after a bath it is still sticky but at least it can move to breathe and turn over off it's back. Pretty blue little thing.

Yes, that is normal for Marans! The dark thickly coated shell does not let the moisture evaporate very well and then it is hard to tell how big the air cell is.

Blue Marans are awesome though.

Mary,

My Blue Marans came from a Poultry Breeder in Elvirta(near Roseville) and the eggs cost one dollar each. I drove to the feed store there and picked up a dozen. One of the best chicken deals yet!

I think the rest of my hatch is a bust. If the rest of the chicks were anything like the blue one I don't see how they could hatch. I brought them inside and candled and I don't see movement in any of them. I put them back until tomorrow but I am not expecting anything to happen. Would anyone else try to assist at this point? Hatch was supposed to be yesterday a.m.
Based on the one you have, I'd try to help any that you think have chicks in them. You may save a few more, otherwise they'll die for sure.

Did you listen to each egg? Oftimes you can hear one inside moving or cheeping or even trying to pip.
That's when I intervene. I've saved at least 3 to 4 chicks that way at the end of each hatch. Some tell me you don't want to do that because then you've saved a bird with weak genes. Perhaps, but it's 3 to 4 chicks I wouldn't have had otherwise.
