Do you know of some place that sells Cream Legbar chicks. I've got to get some.

If they lay blue I could say goodbye to my Ameraucanas...
I only have 1 legbar Dar, but she is a nice pullet. I have had 6 pure ameraucana's and all but 1 have been crazy as heck flighty. My legbar girl is a very calm, mellow girl.

If Mary's boy decides to do his job................ and doesn't Molly or Deb have them too?

Hi mind if i Join?
Welcome!
wow is it cold. we have clouds moving in and weather on the way. It is not much above freezing here.
Brrrrrrr, very cold here too. I need to go clean out a waterer, and I don't want to.

Looks like I'm inheriting the little screaming blue marans.

I'll put it in the small coop with the blue barnies. Another blue chicken for me.

I just came in from the freezing cold after dealing with muddy birds. The turkey pen was so bad I wanted to move them out to the spent garden. There's no cover over the garden, so we had to clip all their wings. Those toms are getting BIG! We had to come in the house and immediately throw our clothes and shoes into the washer, ICK! Hopefully their pen will dry out eventually and they can move back. Our even better, about 8 of them can move to the freezer!

My lazy girls haven't started to lay. Eventually though.

Deb

ETA - the turkeys are having a great time amongst the tomato vines!

Quote: Chiqita has my CLs. The Pullets were calm and quiet. The Rooster was loud! I ma fairly sure he is the reason AC showed up.

Mahonri: Maybe Chiqita will have some hatching eggs for you.
I have heard that some people had trouble with them in the heat last year so you might want to check into heat tolerance. I saw you post that it was going to be 659 degrees on the 21s of this month...

GaryDean26 is in Texas and he said his Cream Legbars were his laying champs in the extreme heat this last summer- they were hands down his BEST layers. Granted they were first year hens. But still, I would say they weather the heat fairly well. I would be more concerned about the very large combs freezing in the winter in cold climates? Dunno guess we will see.

Mine were fine in the heat but I used misters for them.

On the CL thread last summer, some lost 50% of them in the heat.

They lay beautiful eggs!

Mary, it looks like all of the Isbar eggs are good to go... Looks like your Rooster is doing work

That's good news Molly because they sure aren't shipping well. I need to get the oyster shell calcium back in their coops. Good luck with your hatch!
