I have a light brahma in an uncovered run. (she's 4 years old) I never have had a problem with her, but the hawks have been bad this year.
Ugg that insurance doesn't cover anything. We had the same problem our first winter on our farm.Very cute babies Jason! Congrats on Blucy's brood Dar. I am up to my eyebrows in grandkids. Two are leaving today and the last one tomorrow. I will miss them but it has been fun. They all went snowboarding yesterday and left me to fight the day long battle with the home warranty company to try to get our heat fixed. Didn't work.
Adorable Deb!
Quote: Yes, blind a chicken with a huge crest (and a ditzy personality), then put a white bullseye on their head....................
My polish are in totally covered runs.

Well Mary, you do look very suspicious ..... No really, sorry to hear that. It seems like I always get picked to be searched. So embarrassing ! Those are cute picture at the snow. The last of the grandkids went home today. I got a pass at the airport and escorted Buddy to his gate and was subjected to the most embarrassing, humiliating security search of my life. I am still reeling from it. I am ALWAYS chosen at "random" for further screening but today went well beyond the bounds of human decency. MY options were to be escorted to another area of the terminal for the search and be "reunited with my party" at the gate or have the search in public. I explained that my party were children and I could not leave them unattended and that I wasn't even flying, just accompanying a minor to the gate. It made no difference and I was forced to endure the search in front of everyone. When we picked Buddy up on Monday I was also chosen at random for additional screening but it was in way way as invasive and humiliating as today. I will not be flying again nor will I be the one picking the grandkids up at the airport. So awful. I am going to veg out tonight and hope to get my toothache under control and forget the events of the day. All I plan to do is candle my eggs that are due to hatch on Friday. Hopefully I will be able to see into these little suckers this time! Miss the kids already but they'll be back. Cameron and Buddy on the ski lift.Cameron, Buddy and Amanda on the right hatin' life in the helmet! She spent all her time in the shops. She was there so much people thought she was an employee. That's my girl!

Done candling. I still have three Isbars, one cream legbar, one Icelandic and 18 dark egg layers. Still having a hard time candling but I at least can see that something is going on these eggs. I tossed six and verifed they were either clear or scrambled. Still hate the Brinsea candler. Worthless.
I haven't checked for egg in a few days. I think I'd better get out there tomorrow and do that. I am still hoping for help cleaning the coops out and starting over with bedding, again. My custom tarps for the coop fronts arrived and I am anxious to see if they help at all.
