Stella's Social Club

Happy Chooks now that I am sorta up, I get what you meant by "musical threads," you meant to keep her bumped up. I still think it needed a sound track - all Mary's video's have them - usually something heart pounding.

All this tak of hatching eggs has made me hungry - think I will hardboil a couple.
LOL, it's all in the temperature!

Wow, the show this weekend was exhausting...............in fact, I just finished my first cup of coffee, not I have to go start unloading all the birds from their crates in the truck. We didn't get home last night from Fresno until LATE! I wasn't going to unload 25 birds in the dark. I figured they had spent two days pampered at the show, they could tough it out overnight.

Good Morning!

I got my photography class assignment submitted in time. Yeah!

We were working with light and angles and reflectors. I submitted these three photos. I'm a nervous wreck waiting for my critiques.

Granddaughter Emily is here to help me finish unpacking the boxes in the garage and making Goodwill runs. She is not known as an animal person but she and Tucker really bonded.

Granddaughter Amanda was here briefly with her boyfriend. They rode the Crickett up to the high school and collected stray balls for Tucker.

Jack was especially happy yesterday.

Until Diana got into his oat bucket.

The silly emus with their heads sticking through the fence to steal food from the buckets while I open the gate.

Poor little Laverne got her head stuck through the fence and required a rescue.

Shirley got squeezed out at the feeder.

Tucker just enjoyed all the extra love he got.

How'd you do Deb?

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day. If you do one, share it with us! (Not that we don't do them everyday of course!)

I have only one egg left to hatch. It is an Isbar. Here are the others:

Cream Legbar boys!

Cream Legbar girls! Oops, I think the orange one is an Icelandic. My bad.

This one has Kelly's name written all over it. Splash Isbar, the only Isbar that hatched. You can see it in the group shot, kinda blue with a dark dot on it's back, upper left corner.

Beautiful pictures Mary! I'll take that Isbar! I can brood it with the others. Hopefully it won't be a boy.

I'm considering shipping Jake my Briet look-a-like with the feathered shanks. I'd miss her, but I can always hatch more girls from you Mary. And I know he'd be thrilled to breed her. She'd probably be ticked as heck to go from nice CA weather to such cold weather. (isn't he in Michigan now?)

Quote: We did pretty well.............I certainly won't list everyone, but the ones I was happiest with, BB/RB new hampshire and in bantam barred rocks, there were 11, we brought 4...........we won 1st place cock, cockerel, 1st/2nd place hen, BV & RV. Then got beat out by the whites (pretty hard to complete with them).

I had quite a few other good placements and comments, but was pretty happy with my two rarer breeds (very seldom have competition). I brought a lakenvelder pullet (the only one of course), but the judge told his clerk.............." you hardly ever see these, but this is a really nice one". And my campines, I saw the judge watching them for quite a while. When he got to them, he told his clerk............"these are the best campines I've seen in years. I hope whoever has them keeps working with them". I knew they wouldn't go any further, their condition is rough at the moment, their tail feathers are ready to molt out and start again.

All in all, a great show.

Oh, and I had a guy track me down at the show (asked show staff to point me out), talked to me a couple of times, has since called and emailed.......................he wants to buy some birds to "mount" for a museum display. And a feedstore that raises their own chicks, wants to get a RIR cock from me to improve type/size in their birds. He said my cockerel was his favorite bird in the building yesterday (and he's only about 7 mos old, he is going to be a monster).

Congrats to you, Deb! Love reading your show summary!

Great pictures Mary - animals, chicks, food, and people! All are great!

I worked the last 2 nights and have been outside this morning - cleaning coops and messes! I took a little video, too.

I better go answer some PMs......
