Stella's Social Club

Wow Shawn! Awesome animals. Did you get to move onto your property yet?

Not yet... we were hoping to build the house this summer but due to the revised mortgage laws affecting self employment, it will be this winter at the earliest... maybe get moved in by next Spring...

But the fence is finished, Porter (our Great Pyrenees) is out there full time.. and while it is a flexible number (especially this time of year!! ) there are about 125 animals under his protection... that's pigs, goats, ducks, chickens, turkeys, guineas, and 2 barn cats...

I just got the critiques on my assignment for this week. The instructor writing my critiques is food blogger/author Lara Ferroni.

Like the chalkboard! The light looks good... nicely soft with just the right amount of fill.

Kind of random comment, but for some reason, it feels like the three groupings of mushrooms on the right seem upside down. I think they might have looked better spun around so the root end was down.

I also would have shot at more like f5.6... for top down shots, you typically want to make sure that everything on the surface is sharp.

Pretty!

The highlights on the mushrooms look a tiny bit blown out... but it might only be some compression artifacts. Does that area look kind of mottled in the original?

Nice angle... very full of life.

Yes, the highlight on the front of the back mushroom is definitely blown out. there's a setting in your camera that will blink blown out areas for you when you view it on the LCD. That might help.

The browns look luscious though!

How old is Isi?

I can't wait to show you a pic of my choice for my next Icelandic roo.

He's a bit odd compared to others.... a son of Drekki II.... but looks NOTHING like him.

He's dark with a crest. I'm imagining that Phyllis was his mama. Phylis had the largest crest of any Icelandic I've ever had.

Of course once he starts to crow, to Boston in Heber he goes!

BTW... thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers. My receptionist brought in a gal she knew that was a newly graduated dental assistant and had passed her x-ray exam...so she is legal to take x-rays. She seems to be a very hard worker and I think she will work out. Told her she would be my "temp" until I make it legal otherwise.

Of course she will need some intensive training, but she was so willing to just do anything and everything. I even had her do a perio exam with me and she did great on the computer.

My old chairside is still in the hospital. I have serious doubts she will ever work again. I think she'll need to quit so she can get on Access (AZ's Obamacare med ins) and disability. I can't imagine her heart improving enough anytime soon so that she would be able to work... and I don't want her to come back and die in my office. Makes me sad, She's worked for me since September of 1987... but she let herself go, never ate right, the only exercise she got was taking x-rays... her heart is double the size of a regular heart and her "elasticity numbers" are off the charts.. a normal heart is 150, her's was tested at 1930.... which means her heart is just a big soft blob. It can't pump enough blood to oxygenate her body.

My receptionist has also worked for me for MANY years. She had to do almost everything with the exception for the hours my wife worked the front desk this morning... .and she is due with baby#2 the end of August....

Stay tuned for more of "As the World Turns" at the dental office....

Mahonri, I am sorry to hear about your office woes. I hope the new person works out well, she sounds eager and smart!

The Sheriff, What do your "instructors" mean when they say " blown out"?
