Beautiful!

Thank you both.

Kathy, that is what I am trying to do. I have the 2 hens under a nice SLW roo, but my blue boy has no girls. :( I am going to Frank's next week, I am going to see if he might have a girl for him. :)

I do have eggs coming from Katy sometime, but it would be nice to not have to wait an additional year to use him. But I would rather wait for quality than to just have a colorful bird.

Remember how I said I wasn't going to get out the incubator this year?

Well a few months back I joked somewhere on BYC that I'd never had a Naked Neck... So today, I get a "live embryo package" in the mail from Jody, (superchemicalgirl) and in it I have 6 NN eggs, a Speckled Sussex (guessing on that one) and an Olive egg. 8 eggs all the way from Maine. I told my little girl I would have to use the desk in her room for the Brinsea. (the only room in the house that stays warm enough where the temp doesn't fluctuate that much.)

I'm PRAYING that Cloud (one of my Icelandics goes broody). I've been kicking her off the nest all week, but now I NEED HER! I put some golf balls into her favorite next box tonight, even though I'll be setting up the Brinsea, I'm praying she goes broody so I can put the chicks under her when they are hatching.

I wish my Icelandic roo would get jiggy with it. I put him with the big girls but he's just too young and timid. I have a Sultan on the other hand that was in the west grow out pen that started crowing last Sunday. He also was moved to the big coop and has been picked on a bit, but he's stopped crowing. He is however trying to mount my two polish girls (hatchmates)... that haven't started laying. I had named my Icelandic Roo, Vinder Jr., but my 12 year old told me today that his name is "Jack". So "Jack" it is. Now I just have to get him excited about cleaning the coop. I've got to get a pic of "Jack"... I'm thinking he's the son of Rose and of course Drekki Jr.

My BCMarans and my BR are laying soft shelled eggs. They get a BUNCH of free choice oyster shell along with it mixed in with the layer feed, I'm wondering if I'm giving them too many greens. I give them broccoli leaves and lots of fresh cut green grass. The yolks have been VERY dark orange so I know I'm getting lots of good Omega III in them.. but if they break it makes a MESS!

I've been so busy with work and Church I haven't had much time to post... for those of you that pray, would y'all mind praying for me? I'm having some issues and I know prayer and faith in Our Savior works. I need all of the help I can get!

THANKS in advance, you all are the best! Love the kids and chicks and emus etc.. etc.. etc...

Luv y'all,

Dar

We've got a storm rolling through tonight, I hope we don't lose power with eggs in the incubator....

Nice birds, kids, and broodies. Prayers for Dar.

I spent the day today organizing and setting up my hobby room in the basement. This is a storage area.

My sewing area.

Photography set-up.

Kitchen. Incubators are in the bathroom on the right.

This is Michael's music room which is next to mine. Wonder if I should get it organized? Nah.

Chicks legs are better today. I took the booties off and the dark one;s foot started to turn again. He'll get his booty back on tonight. The lighter one's foot is fine. He still wants to splay a bit so I left his hobble on. I think they will both be fine!

Oh yes! Much improved!

Any news about Tucker's status? (Though we all know the status is that he is home and safe and happy!)

Love all the different colors!

Hi Brad!

How many Icelandics did you get from Deb in the Easter hatch?

The colors in Nigerian Dwarf goats is interesting (at least to me). The original Nigerian Dwarfs Goats were black and imported by zoos to feed the large cats (lions, tigers, etc...) Eventually some people got a hold of some to make into miniature dairy goats. They were cross bred with primarily the alpine/swiss breeds which is where all the colors come from.In the original or true Nigerian dwarf goats black is a dominate gene, in todays registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats white is a dominate gene. They are tons of fun, adorable, and great little milkers.

ETA: They are also not true dwarfs, but are miniature. So they are proportionally small. Pygmy goats are true dwarfs which is why they have such a hard time kidding.
