Kelly has never heard of chicken and waffles.

I've heard of it, but never could get past the idea. Of course it doesn't help that I've always detested waffles..............

I read the history, and thanks for that, by the way, but still, waffles with chicken just does not compute. Savory waffles do not compute, period. Of course, I haven't had a waffle of any kind in many years and never owned a waffle iron. Well, you never know until you try something, though, do you? Maybe one day I'll get up the nerve if someone serves it to me, lol.

I agree with you about waffles. They are good with bacon in the batter though.

But I suppose if I can eat calimari with gusto, I could try eating some savory waffles. With warning; otherwise I think I'd react badly if savory waffles passed my palate when I was expecting sweet.

I thought it was weird, too, until we started doing a Gluten-Free diet trial for my son who has ADHD. Since most GF breads are awful, waffles are commonly used as a substitute for sandwiches. There are lots of savory GF waffle recipes used like that.
