It is a Southern thing to use Dr. Pepper. Brown Sugar glazes are much more tasty.

My family is southern, when my DW and I first started dating she said one of the things she really appreciatates is my southern upbringing,my mother and grandmothers do/did not use Dr. Pepper or any other cokes in cooking. In fact, in the south it would be Mr. Pibb, Dr. Pepper is a Texas creation. I believe this is more of a modern development rather than any Southern tradition.

ETA: I hope this doesn't sound rude or mean, it sounded funnier late last night.

Amen. Nothing worse smelling than dog crap. Compared to that, chicken poop smells like lavender and peach blossoms. Except for broody poop. Broody poop should be dropped from on high on whomever we're at war with, along with hot grits and kudzu. Short and long term effect, you see. That's my Southern War Strategy.
