Hand feeding a finch is the absolute last choice. Fortunately she's a good mom, she raised two clutches last year.

Made an apple cake today. This is not the "good" picture. I just took a quick snapshot. It has Dr. Pepper glaze on it! I got a little crazy today.

Deb forgot you had the finch eggs, I was trying to figure out the "stuffing" in the nest, I knew chickens don't have that.

There's still two more eggs in the nest, I'm hoping the others hatch as well. The cage is about five feet to my left, I can just barely hear the baby making noises, dad is already busily flying from food to nest. Right now he's just feeding mom.

hooray for the baby finch!! so delightful!!

here's my 3-day olds -- one isbar (splash), one Daisy Jr.:

they are quite relaxed/quiet, compared to the previous batch of chicks i raised in a brooder (last year), who were in a constant state of pandemonium. these two are quite easy-going so far.
