I made this hat for my older son today. Had to ask his head size. He said he wears a size 8 hat. I had to look it up. That is about a 25" head! Guess I shouldn't be shocked since he's 6'1" and over 200 lb. It's displayed on top of my rain hat since if I put it on my head, it would completely cover it, lol.



Made this one, too, from a yarn called Mint Chocolate Chip, a variegated yarn. Made me want cookies while I was making it.

I just hatched a bunch of cool olive eggers ( U of A blues with a white empordanesa daddy) a few buff x wheaten ameraucana (ee) with the same white empordanesa
I also hatched some crele penedesenca from Rocky my rooster that I swapped out with the younger guy.

I am going to set some Black penedesenca , white empordanesa and crele penedesenca next followed by
silver ameraucana x crele penedesenca to follow if they are laying then

I would love to have two Silver Ameraucana's this next spring. We will be past Jackson, CA but I will drive back just to get two girls if you have them. I have to EE's but I'd like some really blue eggs. I will be following you so I'm patient. Thanks

I realized yesterday that I don't have any brown egg layers. I have dark brown but no brown. I am hoping to start an eating egg business in the Spring and need some reliable layers of large brown eggs. So I ordered seven pullets from My Pet Chicken and they shipped today! I just ordered the assortment of brown egg laying large fowl. Now I am really going to have to do some moving around and maybe even give up a breed or project. Oh well. I don't want to hatch or brood any more chicks so I wanted these fast so I could brood them now with the others.

OMG, I am such an idiot. I have too many chickens now!

Partridge Rocks--winter layers and very Pretty
Australorps--Lay a lot of brown eggs and surprisingly good in the heat.

Of course the Brown Hybrids lay nice brown eggs too. Not as much as Black Sexlinks but they have less reproductive blow outs too.

Yep, I know, but I wanted pullets and I wanted them now. Decided to take what I get. I don't want chicks in brooders after Thanksgiving. I should have them all out in the coops by then and I'll be able to relax a bit.

Jack is so happy we're home he can't get the smile off his face! He is back to twice a day feedings!



They always have the option of eating those blackberry vines down!
