Stella's Social Club

I think this boy might actually have the correct coloring. I am hoping! I have another boy that is still in the brooder and he appears to have good color too. The girls are mostly too dark.

He is looking very good so far, Mary! Hopefully of the two you get at least one looker!

WE MADE IT- CLOSED ON THE HOUSE TODAY- YIPPEE!! Lonny's uncle agreed to brush hog the place for us and refused to let us pay him except with 3 quarts of honey. It looks so much smaller when it's not head high in weeds! But all 9 acres are ours! And neighbors see us out working on the property and come over to talk and help- love it! Everybody is so friendly. They are so excited to have people living there again and keeping the property up. I guess our acreage is causing some rodent/rabbit problems in the area with how tall it was. It's been vacant, lived in by one of the owners during a separation, or rented on and off for several years. They did say that there is a large coyote pack this year- about 15-16 strong- so I'm grateful we went ahead and purchased the electric netting and have plans in the works for covered tractors and runs. We got it partially set-up tonight, got to dark and cold to finish.

But while we were there we looked up in the living room and gee whiz I think the roofers that were there Saturday dropped something through the roof onto the ceiling. It looks like a whole sheet of drywall is bowed from edge to edge and there is a big hole/crack starting. Yikes! The realtor is talking to the roofing company tomorrow. I can't see any way to fix it besides rip out 2-3 sheets of drywall and replace them and the insulation above it- and EVERYBODY knows what a pain it is to re-texture ceilings to match. Yeesh!

Someone that knows what they are doing can fix that. Make the roofer hire a Professional Mudder.

Thanks! Our realtor has been a real tiger through all this real estate deal, I'm sure she'll make them do it right. She was shocked to hear they had damaged the ceiling as she has used this company multiple times. In their defense, the house was locked up so if they dropped something and didn't *think* there was any damage they would have had no way to check. Since she trusts them and we have multiple people (us, the sellers, and both realtors) saying it wasn't like that before they did the roof I'm hoping they will just bite the bullet and repair the damage.

Congratulations Rinda! Wow nine acres is nice. Pictures. You'll be so glad you knocked the weeds down. It is so slippery when they fall over. It also helps when the new grass starts growing in. I can't wait until we have our green pastures back again. I'll never have green runs unless I get rid of the chickens! I am hoping to grow some Fall Winter greens for them to keep the yolks bright.

Enjoy your new place! You worked for this one!

Rinda, that's wonderful! Congrats! Nine acres is enough to do anything you want. A good drywall person can match the pattern. They had to match the bedroom ceilings at my house because they didn't remove all the ceiling drywall, only a section. The rest of the house was a clean slate so I had them do smooth ceilings there.

Congratulations to KELLY! She won the women's prize for our first Blue Roo Creations contest!
Kelly, go check the prizes list and let us know what you have chosen and we'll get that right out to you!

Thought about getting some bad cellphone pictures last night, but it was getting dark and the kids were playing on my phone to keep them busy. :) Will get pics the next time I get out there which will probably be Thursday! Final big project at the old house is nearly done, it's the bathroom with the new tile shower. We replaced the laminate and put a newer sink faucet in this weekend and this week I need to get the walls and cabinets painted. Then we get to move out, touch up paint, pay someone to put in garage doors, and get it on the market!

BTW the deadline is close for the end of the Monster Headphones giveaway on my blog. I think it is ending October 31st but I should probably read the rules. These are $150 headphones so if you need some you might want to try. Monster is pooling the comments from 100 bloggers and giving away 25 sets. They are awesome headphones except Michael stole mine.
Since I appear to be on a winning streak - I want these!

Congratulations Rinda! I'm sure the ceiling will get fixed for you. 9 acres is a great piece of land!

Cool! I tried to go on earlier, but it said I wasn't logged in, and I couldn't figure out where to go to log in.
