6 foot no climb will keep most critters out harder to climb.
nothing will keep a bear or cougar out though

Well, I'm not redoing the entire thing, of course. Can't afford it on our pension. The only posts we can get are 6', which go 1' into the ground, so 5' above. The highest fencing is 5' with some lower around the driveway gate (was donated by a neighbor). What we have now has done okay for keeping the chickens in and most of the n'hood dogs out, which was the plan. If I came into big bucks, I'd have a big stone wall built around the entire acreage.

It's been over 2 months so I figured I'd check in.

Still haven't sold the old home. If you are praying person, pray for us to sell it.

We love the new place, schools etc. Just miss my chickens.

I still get e-mails from placed like McMurry, Ideal and My Pet Chicken... I've got to get off of the lists... they just make me sad.

I am enjoying hiking.

On Oct. 30th, an 81 year old ran a red light and T-boned me. It's a long process getting better. Whiplash that causes numbness and burning in my hands.

But I have to thank the good Lord I am still alive and kicking.

Kathy - pul-lease get some of those gorgeous black nose sheep - they can't be any where near the trouble emu's are? Just a couple. Maybe they have bantam size.


Then you can shear them and spin the wool or whatever they do with it, and make wonderful heirlooms for your family.

PS Don't people bury a statue of St.Joseph upside down in their garden & their home sells fast. Then you dig up the statue and take it to your new home. Or maybe you strike oil digging the hole and end up like the Beverly Hillbillies. Just sayin'.

Hi Dar, glad you see you check in - and that the new home is great. Sorry about the chickens though, and the crash as well, you have had a very tough year. May 2014 be better all around.

I do not believe those sheep are real - a hoax, right? Stuffed toys or cut outs, right? Because if they are real oh boy do i WANT one. Or several.
