I'm getting a new camera!

I've been wanting my own camera for a while now. Mine, as in, I won't try to take a picture and discovered that someone changed all the settings on it. I told DH that for our 20 year anniversary coming up, that I want a camera instead of jewelry. He's been telling me that he doesn't believe me. He thought it was a trap and I'd complain to all my friends that he didn't buy me jewelry.

(my grandmother has gifted me some of her jewelry, so I don't need any more) So now he's bought me a camera (Canon Rebel with a regular lens and a zoom lens) and he's going to get me an apple computer of my choice also. (Black Friday worked in my favor) He recently switched to the Mac Mini and loves it, so he wants to get me one.

My pictures still won't be as good as Mary's, but oh well. I'll just pretend they are good.

hooray, how exciting!! nothing better than cameras! (I've lost count of mine at this point...)

It is great to get what you want. Maybe Mary will give you some photography lessons.

Congratulations on the Camera and Mac Mini.

And

Happy Anniversary!

Yikes this storm system is supposed to bring us 6 inches of snow this weekend, which is a rather large storm for us especially for early December. I get one nice day tomorrow to get everything settled in and tied down...

We have been getting everything ready for our storm too today. I cleaned brooders, a never-ending job. Michael put the heaters in the waterers and wrapped pipes with heat tape and some with insulation. Hoping for the best.

I moved my brown egg layers out of the brooder today to the biggest coop. They are six weeks old now. They have been off heat for some time and had totally outgrown their brooder. They should stay warmer in the insulated coop than in the little yellow house anyway. Michael stapled off a section with chicken wire so we can isolate them to the coop for a few days. We don't need more chickens to put away manually every night!

I have a little Swedish Flower Hen who is a runt. She is 11 weeks old and still looks like a little chick. She is in the coop with the Icelandic's her age, but she doesn't go in at night and runs around like a nut all day. I don't think she could survive the freezing nights in the coop because she is alone on the floor while everyone else is roosting. I cleaned a brooder for her and brought her in to stay until the freeze passes. She has a brooder to herself but four others in the little yellow house for company. She has an Eco-Glow to keep her warm.

Kelly came over this morning and helped me identify the breeds from my contest. The winner got 4 out of the 5 correct and no, it wasn't Kelly. I don't know the person who won. Anyway, the breeds are Dark Cornish, White Plymouth Rock, Buff Brahma, Dominique, and Cuckoo Marans. The Marans was the tricky one because it wasn't on the list from My Pet Chicken but all they state is "most likely" from the list. So thanks for playing if you did, and huge thanks to Kelly for helping me, well, doing it for me.

Michael and I just herded up the BCM's that we have to put in manually and forced them through the pop door. Then we covered it with a board. Hopefully a few nights of that and they will learn to go in without us.
