Stella's Social Club

Not for me! We lived in Utah (twice) and Colorado and Ohio (yuck to Ohio weather, 25 below zero, plus ice plus snow). Last time we were in Utah, that winter we had over 100" of snow. We didn't see the yard for five months. The snow walls on either side of the driveway were 10' high. Thankfully, it wasn't icy snow, being a dry climate, but still....I have seen enough snow for my entire lifetime.

What I hate is the aftermath, the slushy, ugly nasty wet that lingers for weeks while it seeps back into the ground; that is, if it doesn't just freeze solid. Nope, you have have your snow. I hate the stuff.

I love a small snow where everything turns white for a day or two but like Cyn. hate a big one. I lived in Mich. for awhile and that cured me of snow envy.

I also worry about falling, moving around on my mtn. land. A small grade change can make a lot of difference as you age. , We have had a light dusting once and that was enough for me. It was 69 here yesterday

. I set out on my porch and enjoyed it. It will not last. When it gets really cold my Orp roo's comb turns color on the tips. Thankfully when it warms some it turns back to its reg. color , so far. I would hate for my Snowey to lose that beautiful bright red comb. He is white otherwise and sooo pretty to me.
The Del. roo has not had that problem so far. They both are nice and gentle at this time but less than a yr. old. Each have their own little flock. Take care in this snow everyone. NOOOOOOO BROKEN BONES PLEASE!!!!

Been super busy the last couple of months finishing fences at the farm... I now have 7 individual pastures plus the area around the barn... Can't wait for Spring!!!

It's been -5 degrees or colder every night this week so what did I do yesterday? Break out the incubator of course!!! I set eggs this morning... Maybe that will warm things up LOL

You didn't!

Another emu addict in the making. 55 days til cute little emu babies!

we had about 8" up here by the house but down in the chicken area (less windy about 11" ) I would say though this waterer that I had to uncover is about 12-13" tall
even my brooder and Turbo Regal that are protected in the carport had snow.
At least the shade cloth held up fine.
Like Kelly said the wind kept the fluffy snow off the netting.
Its still snowing here and 27 degrees ( which generally when it snows here it is at or little above freezing so its usually very heavy )

AMEN!!! The first week of January, it will be 5 years since I badly broke that ankle and I will pay for it for the rest of my life, and not just every time I go through a metal detector. Can't risk another incident like that one.
