Nice eggs Kelly! Love the Wellie eggs. I am going out back to kick Chatty Cathy in the kneecaps.

Definitely pretty eggs. I love the colors. Maybe next season I can have more of them too. Are welsummers good layers?

I think they are pretty good layers, not the best layers around, but good. They lay about 5 a week. If you decide to get some, let me know. I know a good wellie breeder in West VA that has nice, dark eggs.

Thanks for all the compliments everyone!

My latest pullets to start laying. An olive egger and a welsummer. The olive eggs are more olive in person. The welsummer pullet just earned her spot in the breeding flock with these eggs.
Beautiful! This is what I wanted too. I do have two Welsummers and their eggs are nice and dark- I love those girls. One of them is flighty though. Can you believe it??? Are any of your Welsummers flighty? We have had Wellies before and they weren't flighty. I think I must have the world's only flighty Welsummer from what I read on internet.

My one EE lays brown eggs. (We used to have some EEs in the past who laid green and blue so I am totally OK with the brown eggs from "Nutmeg" my EE girl.) Maybe one day we'll buy some more EEs.

For males, I only have one Silkie cockerel and three Buff Minorca cockerels, so no Welsummer breeding here.

Mine for the most part are not flighty. They are friendly in that they will come to me, but they don't like to be picked up. They are not a lap chicken breed. I do have a couple that are borderline flighty that my broody raised.

My Wellie, Chatty Cathy has laid a total of about 20 eggs her entire life. She's retired now and no longer lays.

She wastes all her energy yakking all day long.

My Welsummers were broody raised too. I guess that is what it is. Thanks for the info.
