It is a very tasty dinner. I am happy that you tried it.Just finished dinner. OMG the short ribs were so good. I pulled the meat off the bones and pulled it like pulled pork to get the gristle and fat out. I reduced the sauce down till it was really thick. Then I served the meat and sauce over sushi rice. OH. my. goodness. I used the lemon grass, garlic, and ginger. The flavors were so good. Thanks for the recommendation Kelly and Ron. I'll take pics of the leftovers and blog about this one tomorrow.
I got half of my short ribs at Whole Foods and the other half at our local Holiday Market for a lot less money. The local meat was much better. Terrible waste on the others. Tucker was happy though.
All three of us are rolling around groaning from eating too much.![]()
We're trying to figure out how to eat without the meat since we can no longer afford to buy it. I've never been a fan of ribs, personally. Guess it's a good thing with all the recent drooling all over this thread, lol.
It is sad that Beef is so expensive. We're trying to figure out how to eat without the meat since we can no longer afford to buy it. I've never been a fan of ribs, personally. Guess it's a good thing with all the recent drooling all over this thread, lol.
Absolutely true!We buy ground chuck on occasion when it goes on sale for under $3/lb and the most meat we buy is boneless, skinless chicken breasts when they are under $2/lb. We aren't vegetarians, but we're almost being forced to be. I REFUSE to pay the prices they are charging on principle alone. I don't just grumble then give in, I simply refuse. I don't think we've ever paid $5 / lb for any meat. We can't afford to when we are living well below poverty level and at every turn, the gov't has its hand in our pockets is trying to take away more and more of the retirement benefits that my retired disabled Air Force Msgt husband earned. So, we just try to survive and grow what we can grow.
