Yay Kathy such good news!

Love the broody pics so cute.

One of my SFH boys met an early demise a few weeks ago after challenging me for the 3rd time - and lo and behold there is much less crowing in that pen now. Down to 2 boys and one more has to go.

I have a Nikon d7000 SLR, really like it.

really, you think it's a mariposa lily? doesn't look quite right... mariposas usually have some darker colors in the center. i'll ask my mom...
I don't know for sure. I do know it also goes by Yellow Star Tulip and they are closely related. Same Genus

top ones are weeds Mariposa Lilly. had not herd of that one but found it under Mariposa Lilly ( not my pics)

Yellow star will sometimes have a darker center as well. not always though. I have seen it with a Red center a few times on my property and last one. Usually just se it yellow.

Its native to the Sierras and Foothills above around 2000ft

Any suggestions for a camera for $200 or under? I have that slow as molasses Nikon L22 Coolpix, which, believe it or not, is better than the old, old one I did have, but not by much. I can't afford a $500 camera, but I miss so many shots to the super slow shutter speed.

from my mom, who's something of a botanical wiz: "It looks like the yellow star-tulip, Calochortus monophyllus. It is said to be a "small upright flower whose inner surfaces are yellow-haired and without other colors. 3-8" high. Woodlands. Western foothills of n Sierra Nevada". (Pacific States Wildflowers, Niehous/ Ripper)"

so you were right!!
