I think there is a direct flight from the airport in Florida to Sacramento. They have always arrived overnight, sometimes in 18 hours. I guess I am lucky. The little chick is doing fine. I can't tell which one it is now!

Still can't post pics. Can anyone else?

Maybe you should have them shipped to me. I could raise them until they are a bit older then ship them on to you. Or not.

Glad they arrived earlier than expected.

Rinda, that little guy has great presence. So glad he came home unscathed.

It always takes and extra 1-2 days for shipments to reach me, we live on the backside of nowhere with no major airports anywhere around. The real surprise is that I have hatched ANY shipped eggs, and that chicks actually arrive here alive on a regular basis.

WooHoo we moved our oldest Pavlovskajas from the brooder to their own coop two days ago. We have herded them through the pop door at dusk the last two nights. Tonight we left them to their own devices and they put themselves in before the automatic door closed! Icelandics would have done it from Day One but I am thrilled with the Russkys! There are four of them and one Brabanter who I am leaving in with them until it gets a bit older since they have been together since hatch. I'll move it in with the other Brabanters when I re-home the Orpingtons. I keep telling Michael that the Brabanter is the smart one. She (it) is always the first to head for the door and the Russians follow. They are the funniest things ever with their big feathered feet. The five of them walk around together moving as one clump of littles. It is hysterical. We get a big kick out of them.

OK gardeners, I'm dyin' over here. My jalapeños are blazing hot like I have never tasted before. I just made jalapeño poppers and I was choking while seeding the peppers. The poppers are so hot I can barely stand them and I like hot food. I read that dry hot conditions such as the draught can cause this. Anyone else had this problem?
