Today is my second weekly pick-up from the Winter Vegetable CSA. In the box this week:

1 bu Carrots

1 bu Purple Carrots

1 ea Butternut Squash

1 bu Tokyo Turnips

½ lb Little Gem Lettuce

½ lb Walnuts

1 lb Yellow Finn Potatoes

1 bu Rapini

1 pc Spaghetti Squash

I have a fennel potato gratin in the oven as we speak so that means I officially used everything in last week's box before picking up a new box! Woot. I don't like fennel but supposedly the flavor gets toned down with the potatoes and cheese. If not, the chickens will like it!

I have never made rapine before but in the Craftsy class I just took on Italian Sauces, the instructor makes a pasta with it. I think I'll have to try that. I know it is bitter so we'll see.
 
The Craftsy web tutorial web site that Mary the Sheriff posted about now has a class on sourdough baking.

I may check it out soon. I have been baking with sourdough since 1985 but am always happy to learn more!
 
The gratin is out of the oven and if you didn't tell me, I would never know it had fennel in it! Delicious. Will be great with dinner.

The sourdough class is on sale now. Hmm...but I still have a couple of classes I haven't finished from the Black Friday sale! The nice part is that they are self paced and you can watch the videos over and over again. That is great with the Lightroom and Photoshop classes.
