I'm very happy that Mary decided to go back to her first love, Icelandics. (and I'm not just sayin' that because she's taking 2 cockerels back)
 
Michael cleaned four coops for me yesterday and helped me take down the shade cloths in preparation for the snow I am hoping for!

The coops are still a bit wet inside but we have yet a new ventilation idea in mind that will hopefully work to keep them drier in the winter.

The worst coop has had a safe heater running in it since yesterday to dry it out. Today I should be able to get in them with the shop vac and get all the little stuff and cobwebs. Then I'll spread clean shavings, DE and Sweet PDZ, open the vents and hopefully have much nicer accommodations for breeding the most beautiful flock of Icelandics I've ever had.

I am picking up Kelly's two boys tomorrow and I saw my silver guy trying to get jiggly with one of the girls this morning! Now all I have to do is get the Brinsea Ova-Easy to cooperate. That will be the tricky part. Michael moved it back upstairs for me and I will baby it every step of the way and add water to the pump every time I walk past it. I feel so excited about getting back to what I love, Icelandic chickens.

Thank you guys for taking Mr. Toad's Wild Ride on Mary's Bipolar Chicken Breeding Roller Coaster! Hang on to your belongings (chocolate and ice cream) and keep your arms in the ride at all times! Here we go!

Beef has gone out the roof this year.... Even just a four pack of rib eyes would have been fifty.....

My son dislikes ham as well but every time I have cooked one hes eaten a couple of plates of it... LOL. This year I bought a ham at Costco. There is no bone in it but its a smoked ham... I am guessing they removed the bone and laid the meat out for ham brining then they smoked it. it looks very good. So its about three inches thick in the middle.... and comes with a currant glaze. I cant wait to cook it up and taste it. My sons main issue with ham is the amount of fat on it. this looks to be pretty lean.

So we will see. I am doing candied Yams and potato salad grandmas recipe for potato salad is awesome. Then I may do some dressing... just cooked on the stove top with chicken broth as the liquid. The grandmas both love stuffin.

Deb, ham is the only true way to go if you ask me.

I love a nice big ham with the skin still on it.... Scored and pricked with Cloves then basted with CoKe-a-cola glaze.... if you ever get a chance to do it that way please do..... its out of this world good. You can use Coke or Rootbeer or any Cola but I have onlyhad the cola kind.

This year I am trying to keep down my work. I can start the potato salad Wednesday... Keeps in the refrigerator quite some time so being early with it is no big deal. I can also do the yams up pre prep and chill in the refigerator as well. The stuffin is easy on the stove so it will be done that day.

And I bought a disposable roasting pan for the ham. They have lids so all I need to do is slice it up and put it back in the pan for storage....
