That is one cute dog.... I know I have asked this before but is he a wire haired Jack Russel? What ever breed I want a personality like that for my doggie heart spot that has been so empty for a year now.... My Rosie was seventeen when she began to fail and I promised myself to never have one dog ever again.... I miss her so much...

but I want to start with a big personality dog then eventually I want three... One big dog for big dog Woof duties one in between dog for running dog duties and one small big personality dog for vermin duties.... Thats how many it would take to replace Rosie.

All my dogs are indoor outdoor dogs what ever they want. Within reason. I set up a dog yard just for them when I have to be away for a few hours so they can safely do business lay in the sun or come in and lay in the bedroom. Or the green house room.

The only thing Rosie wasnt good with was horses. Not that she was bad but she got sooo worried about me working my horse that she would sit outside the arena and bark worried yips when I would longe her or long line her.... I think she worried I would get hurt...

Deb, he was a rescue. Two times adopted and twice returned. Neglected and beaten. He was considered to be not adoptable anymore but they decided to try one more time. The foster said he would be euthanized if he ended up at animal control again. It was the idiots that adopted him that were not fit for adoption, not him. He is quite honestly the sweetest little soul I have ever come across in my entire life. He is just pure love in a little fur ball. I have no idea what he is except terrier mix. I have been meaning to get him DNA tested just for fun but keep forgetting to order the kit. I think I'll do that for his second anniversary with us.

I can understand you not wanting to feel the pain of losing one again. Maybe it's time. I saw this quote the other day,

“Once you have had a wonderful dog, a life without one, is a life diminished.”

You got that right. I have had dogs 58 years this is the first year without one.

I know what it was with your boy.... Terrier mixes are terribly smart people dogs and you have to understand their innate nature.... they are diggers and yippers and if out of balance can be very destructive... Outside of one that was driven to roam I haven't had a failure yet with rescues.

Smart dogs are easy if you give them a challenge and a job. Rosie was a shy female at the pound when I got her she had 'given up" and kept her back turned to the people who would walk by her cage.... I was looking for a dog for my son and a dog for my Greyhound. To keep him company during the day I had to work then. So I passed Rosie up for A Dalmation.

We asked to meet him in a socializing area... he sniffed us and allowed us to pet him and without a bit of connection he took off to sniff all the mailboxes in the yard. never came back.... So we asked to see Rosie.. or dog number 4. She came in and wagged her tail with her head down.... I petted her and cooed a little and she sat on my foot... Then looked up at me... and my heart melted.

Once she got home she was a silly happy girl and greeted the Greyhound appropriately.... but once she settled in she wormed her way into my heart big time. She was shy with other people and I saw in her something that told me to keep small children under control around her or remove her to a safe place when they visited. But other than that she was fine with my Ten year old.... She was two and had never learned to play fetch.... I am soo glad I could give her a good dogs life.

She was an aussie mix... I dont expect another like her... I expect the next challange and big personality.... It will be exciting.

Mary does that mean the cookie was so hard Tucker considered it to be a bone? I had Cockers and any food item never was around long enough to hide.
No, they were just regular gingerbread cookies. I poked holes through them while they were still warm and tied them onto the tree with twine. A couple of them broke and fell. The one Tucker scored laid on top of a gift for a couple of days without him noticing it. He gave us the best Christmas chuckle ever walking around crying with that big cookie in his mouth!

Diva, will you be changing your head gear out for New Years? I have a little something ready to replace the bow on my head!
