Merry Christmas friends

Hunny, as Winnie the Pooh would say,  so yummy in his tummy.      Way back in the 70's a friend gave me honey from her farm in West Virginia.  She said it was a "locus" year.

That was the best honey I've ever had in my life.  Looking back, I am shocked to realize  that ice cream , apart from chocolate malteds, didn't even register in my life. I was  skinny as a rail and stayed that way till my pregnancy a decade later. 

Today, I have tasted the best honey since I had bees last in 1994.... I only got a taste....

No way, I would get close to them without being bundled up. Perfect day, cold, windy and the bees were not flying

I was driving down the free way one day in the fall about a year ago. windows open enjoying the breeze when I see a distant black cloud it was morphing large small flat long and in a ball.... Bemused I thought ... that was a bee Swarm I was heading into.... I hit it doing seventy with my windows down.... I got pelted by about three hundred bees.... All on one shoulder... I could feel at least six stings....

I pulled off at the Indian Casino.... Off ramp I jumped out and whipped my shirt off.... Yep right there alongside the freeway.... I figured no one would look for long.

About a hundred bees fell out of the truck dead. and several more were stuck to my shirt. I brushed them off and could find NO stings on my arm and shoulder.... It was my imagination. but no i had teeny littlle dots here and there on my arm.

No itching or swelling but something very interesting happened. My Arthritis eased considerably for the next few days.

Bees don't bother me thank goodness nor am I allergic. I probably should learn how to keep them.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!... er.. Happy Holidays!

Still alive an' kickin' in Phoenix.

Son #2 got married in Salt Lake on the 23rd. Got to see my grand baby while there.

We were able to Skype with my #4 son who is in Italy for the next two years .... it's been a nice, semi quiet Christmas.

Still can't talk my sweetie nor the woman next door into letting me get a chicken coop for 5 or 6 hens.

Oh well... I can dream. I know I could never talk DW into bees... we have them around our pool year round.

I do raise a few veggies in the backyard... Peppers, tomatoes, corn and squash... we had a few peas as well. The oranges on my tree are super sweet!... the grapefruit didn't develop as large as last year... guess I'll have to fertilize.

I work today, tomorrow, Mon-Wed and then I'm off until the 5th.

I'll check back in later to see how you're all doing.

Merry Christmas, everyone, a bit late.

My thoughts on the ceiling insulation:

Basically, going from outside inwards, you want the waterproof barrier first (tin roofing). Ideally, you should have a few inches of well ventilated air space under that to let it breathe, so completely open all around below the tin. Then, some sort of windbarrier that still lets some air through but doesn't let it blow straight through. Inside of that, you want some insulation, and inside of that, something that the chickens won't peck, maybe plywood. The insulation will need some ventilation too to let out any moisture that gathers in there.

Mary, I think I would drill some holes at the peak of at least one end, just underneath where the insulation is - maybe 2or 3 holes, decent sized (2"?), cover them with hardware cloth, and leave them open all the time. That would allow the warmest, highest moisture air to vent out.

She was an aussie mix... I dont expect another like her... I expect the next challange and big personality.... It will be exciting.

Our first dog was a free aussie mix in a store parking lot. LOVED that girl, smart as a whip. She had a bad reaction to a OTC flea/tick treatment and we had to have her put down. Foaming at the mouth, circling, seizures. It was so sad. A few years later we acquired a 2 year old aussie mix from a man that was moving and couldn't take her. She was a great dog. Had to put her down last spring at 10 years old, tumor in her jaw and she couldn't eat anymore. We so enjoyed them we got two full blood aussies, and now have 5 pups!

LOL What a tale! Actually it is very well known that bee venom counters the swelling and pain of arthritis and other conditions. My father in law and husband both will catch a bee and direct it's sting to problem areas to help with pain and inflammation for hand, elbow, and back pain.

X2 that's what I would try.

Heck of a Christmas Eve rain storm happening. I'm all dressed up and ready for family. Everything is done, just waiting to put stuff in the oven at the appropriate time. Thanks to Mary, I have comfortable footwear........

They are super comfy.

Christmas was great! My 9 year old's favorite present was a bee suit. Christmas Jammies with the cousins is another tradition. My 5 year old got a crane, it was the hit of the morning with all the kids.
