I hope your sisters surgery goes well and she makes a full recovery.
The fruitcake is very moist and delicious. I have to revise my statement: I don't like fruitcake......unless it's Mary's.

Oh, I am glad you liked it.

It's all about the dried fruit.
I am heading upstairs to watch TV in my room and take a Craftsy class. Just candled and I now have four fertile eggs in the incubator plus three that I set yesterday. That is all I am incubating until I can get ones that are fertile from the new match-ups!

Our first dog was a free aussie mix in a store parking lot. LOVED that girl, smart as a whip. She had a bad reaction to a OTC flea/tick treatment and we had to have her put down. Foaming at the mouth, circling, seizures. It was so sad. A few years later we acquired a 2 year old aussie mix from a man that was moving and couldn't take her. She was a great dog. Had to put her down last spring at 10 years old, tumor in her jaw and she couldn't eat anymore. We so enjoyed them we got two full blood aussies, and now have 5 pups! LOL What a tale! Actually it is very well known that bee venom counters the swelling and pain of arthritis and other conditions. My father in law and husband both will catch a bee and direct it's sting to problem areas to help with pain and inflammation for hand, elbow, and back pain. X2 that's what I would try. Love them! Christmas was great! My 9 year old's favorite present was a bee suit. :) Christmas Jammies with the cousins is another tradition. My 5 year old got a crane, it was the hit of the morning with all the kids.
So cool, such a great party and thank you for sharing! Love that beesuit If I was shopping for a dog, I would purchase Zach Congratulations

Dar - so good to hear from you. Can't you haggle them down from NO to 5-6 hens to settling for 3-4? I think your wife just put the neighbor up to saying NO. Even 2 hens would make you happy.

I can understand though, I was too passionate about my dogs (like you with your chickens) and totally fell apart every time I lost one. My family was sick and tired of my near catatonic state and were thrilled to tears when I stopped raising dogs. I haven't had a dog since 1989 and I am aching for one. Just can't afford one anymore.

My surrogate dog is Bella next door. She is a very rough and tumble girl with energy that doesn't quit. I just can't keep throwing the ball for her but, when she is ready for quiet time she comes to sit with me and let me hug her and pet and stroke her beautiful soft velvet ears. Sometimes she can handle 20 minutes or more of inactivity before rushing off on another wild spell.

Hope you had a great Christmas and will pop in at New Years, Valentine's Day and all the other biggies.

OMG I just had the freakiest thing happen. Tucker and I were here alone when suddenly someone started banging on all our doors. Most of my porch light don't work, so I couldn't see who it was. I kept asking "who is it" but no one responded. Suddenly a woman's voice started yelling "Help me, help please help me." She sounded old so I opened the door and she came right in. She said she got lost in her car and couldn't find her house. She didn't know her name, her address, or her phone number. She kept walking around my house looking at things saying, "None of this looks familiar. I don't think this is my house."

She didn't know her husband's name but she thought it might be Frank. She said they just got married. I found a checkbook in her purse that said Lois and I asked her if she was Lois and she said that sounded familiar. I looked online for the last name with the first name Frank and couldn't find anything. Finally I found a phone number in her purse and called it. No Answer. So I left a message hoping it was Frank's number and said I was calling about Lois. No call back. The address on the checkbook is on my street so I convinced her to let me drive her to that house.

We got there and it was all dark and she didn't recognize the house. I was going to bring her back and call the police for help when I saw a name engraved on the door knocker. I asked her if she knew anyone by that name and she said she thought that was her daughter's name and she used to live with her. It was pitch dark and she got out of the car and started wandering in the dark saying "I don't know this house. I have never been here before." She was tripping over big piles of pine needles and I was afraid she was going to fall. Suddenly, down the hill, I saw headlights coming up the driveway. I got her to stand still while I walked down. It was Frank. He had gotten my message, done a reverse phone number look-up on me, and saw that I lived on the same street as his wife's daughter who is out of town for the holidays. He took a chance and drove over there and found us.

We were all so relieved. She is 81 and they have been married a long time and she is on chemotherapy for cancer. She took the car and didn't tell him and has been gone all day. He was frantic. He asked if they could leave the car here until tomorrow and he will come back with someone to drive it home.

She said it had gotten dark since she got lost, but she was too afraid to knock on anyone's door. Poor dear. I am so glad I was home to help get her safely home. I am shaken up so I can just imagine how she feels. Gotta go lay down.

Mary, you get some of the weirdest things happening in your neighborhood. I think you should build a safe room and just hide in it, whenever you and Tucker are alone.

I HATE strangers knocking and phone calls.

That has to be a scary thing to have happen!

I am happy that it all turned out to have a happy ending.
