Gorgeous day here in CA today. 68 degrees.
I will be showing my birds for the first time at the end of January. I'm excited and terrified at the same time! I'll be taking both Welsummers and Barnevelders.
Thanks. I attended this show last year, and I was amazed. The Brahma's were the most shocking to me, holy cow are they HUGE! And you are right about the noise, but the roosters didn't hold a candle to the geese and call ducks. Mary and I had a great laugh at the call ducks. For such a little duck, they have a really loud quack!Kelly, one of my favorite poultry shows is coming up in a couple of weeks in Springfield, Mass. I have never shown a bird but I love to go and observe. 3,000+ chickens - it's amazing! It's total cacophony with all the roosters crowing at once. The most beautifully presented birds win. Give them a bath, polish up their legs and combs and make sure all feathers are in order - you'll do great. Have fun and good luck !
Ooh, me too Feb 7 here in Oklahoma! I'm so nervous! Need to mail in my forms this week!!!Gorgeous day here in CA today. 68 degrees.

Kelly talk to Mike about pre show nerves - he prevailed and made his Sunna a champion all by himself. You don't put a dog in a cage for judging, they have to pose them and run round the ring showing the gait and follow judges' instructions.
Showing a bird must be easy peasy. You'll do just fine. Just don't tell everyone around you that their pullets are really cockerels- wrong way to make friends.![]()

That's why they're called Call ducks - for the loud call! Hunters carried them in in their pockets and set them out in the water to lure in the wild ducks with their loud quacking. I think they are the cutest little things!
