Stella's Social Club

Gosh, busy morning! I crashed last night after typing a longwinded PM to Diva, then apparently I touched the wrong spot on my iPad and it dissolved into thin air. I put the iPad down and went to bed early. Still very sore from moving furniture. In the little room I can't hear crowing at all! I still wake up very early and turn on the TV but at least I can hear it!

Tucker loves the daybed in the new TV room. He doesn't even want to sit in the recliner with me, meaning I can finish my online camera class on my iPad with the camera next to me.

Hope everyone and their animals get through the next few days warm and safe. Those temperatures are disturbing! Nice to see you Cyn! Pharrell throws the moles up in the air too and plays with them like a cat toy. So gross!

Diva I would like to see at least one of the boys fulfill their baby daddy destiny too. It will probably mean we'll need to put up another fence because you can't leave them in with the females because they will try to kill the chicks. They are such Divas.

I am hesitant to sell the eggs because I have no idea if they are fertile. The girls only seem interested in me right now, not Stuart or Louis!

Chica is all over me when I go in to feed them. This morning she was hugged up to me with her head on my shoulder. She hasn't allowed us to touch her since we moved here. Odd little birds those emus.

Rinda the pics from the show are nice. Love those featured feet! And the call duck? OMG they were so loud when Kelly and I went to the show. They were the cutest things in the entire place but the loudest.
I could barely hear the 4H kids crying when Kelly told them their pullets were cockerels!

Well, I am off to the big city this morning to buy a Chef's knife. Probably go straight to the ER from the mall.

They have good knives at Smart and Final. It is a fun store--and not in a Mall.

Yes, they do. But....

Smart and Final is not right next door to the Cheesecake Factory for which I have a $50.00 gift certificate lifted from Michael's wallet.

Six below here this am, wind and wind chill warnings, coop stays closed today!

I have a middle-aged hen that looks like she has developed arthritis - her joints are swollen, and while she moves around she is not showing signs of laying or of getting off the perch unless it is a really good reason.

We're balmy here, compared to you, 1muttsfan!
I also have an 8 y.o. Ameraucana with arthritis. She takes little short steps and lays down a lot. The others in the "old ladies home" gather around to keep her company.

I decided not to go today after all. I forgot that I have to pick up my winter vegetable box from the CSA today. Knife shopping and cheesecake will just have to wait.

I have an 8 yr old BR with severe arthritis, Amanda, who has no use of one leg anymore so she can't really walk, but thumps around using one semi-good leg and her wings. She still lays and laid two eggs over the last week. I'm afraid that laying on the floor all the time this winter may do her in. Her sister, same age, has obvious arthritis in her feet (gnarly/knotty) but it doesn't seem to bother her much. She has laying issues or cancer, I think, because she goes on a nest, sits, no egg, has done it for quite awhile now. Both my remaining true Ameraucana hens have some arthritis, but it's minor compared to Amanda. One is 7 1/2 and one is turning 7 soon.

Tucker looks so comfy. If you really want to see and hear 4-H kids cry you should go to the end of fair auction.

Quote: Interesting, I've never thought about chickens getting arthritis.
