Stella's Social Club

Good morning! Today I feel as if I just might survive after all. Could be that the Nyquil just hasn't worn off yet. I checked in on my blog just now and saw the picture of the biscuits and honey and had to whip up another batch. Feeding my cold still.

Got another egg from Loca this morning. It is her biggest yet. Michael mowed the pastures yesterday so maybe the boys will make a nest out of cut grass. I doubt it and I really don't need any more emus. I will probably keep sending the eggs to people that want them just for the price of postage. I can't, in good conscience, charge for them because I have no idea if they are even fertile.

The fallen tree was removed on Sunday. SIL said it was taken out by woodpeckers boring around the trunk!

He says if the drought continues, the entire ridge line of trees is in jeopardy. That's a scary thought with the high school track being just at the top of the hill.

Oh my. I have to go now.

Thanks to Mary's inspiration I subscribed to FarmFreshToYou. I received 3 boxes of vegetables this morning. They deliver. A blessing. I was blending my vegetables. That's my medicine for the moment.

They deliver????? My husband just headed out to pick up my box of veggies for this week. I am getting collard greens this week so I am anxious for that! I have some smoked bacon ready to go!

Woodpeckers are only after food - trees that are heavily damaged are usually heavily bug-infested. Drought makes trees more vulnerable to insects, who do a lot of damage, and so the woodpeckers will come in search of dinner. Our Pileated woodpeckers will chisel big rectangular holes, 3" wide by 5" tall. When I see a lot of them in a tree I know it is probably doomed.
