Busy times at Stela's Social Club

Busy times here in Phoenix as well.

#5 finishes up his final exams in Utah today. I hope he drives home soon. We have to get him ready for his two year mission to Canada that begins in January.

#3 finishes up his finals this week as well in Cedar City.

#1 along with pregnant wife and child came for Thanksgiving. I went through grandchild withdrawal when they left.
They won't be coming for Christmas as it's too close to delivery. In January I'll have TWO grandaughters.

#2 and wife will be flying in on the 20th from Iowa City and will be staying until Jan 4th.

#4 is in Vicenza, Italy and will finish his two year stint in September.

#6 is enjoying his freshman year of High School and will be singing in the Christmas Choir Concert tomorrow night.

#7 runs the place and she has an attitude. Boys are easier to raise.

All of my siblings and mother will be here for a family reunion Dec. 31st and Jan 1st.

My cucumbers have been producing nicely but I didn't get my corn planted early enough so I'll have to replant in January. My squash is producing well and I have LOTS of tomatoes on the vine but they are all still green. A few bell peppers are about ready to pick.

We had one frost that touched a few plants but most are still thriving.

Still no chickens. But I have plans.

DW and I walk the mountain by our home frequently.

I'm still drilling, filling and billing.

I also stay busy as an assistant scout master for the Boy Scouts here. Once #6 gets his Eagle I'll be ready to move on to something new.

Wow Dar, I would have a lot of trouble discussing children in birth order and I just have two! Amazing. So are the granddaughters #1a and #1b?

Sounds like everyone is doing well and life is good for you, except for that little trouble maker #7! I agree 100% that boys are easier to raise, at least in my case having had one of each!

I follow your hiking posts on FB and am amazed at some of the things you have done. Even in the heat!

I am intrigued by the "chicken plan" comment. Do tell...

I can share that having just seven hens is very nice and so easy. Just a little coop to clean and a barely noticeable feed bill. I miss having a rooster but it would never work here. The coop is under my bedroom window again and with just an acre, the neighbors would be inconvenienced.

Nice to have you visit from time to time. I am amazed you can with your busy life.

Good Morning! I spent most of the day sick and in bed yesterday. I hate that.

I slept for 10 hours last night

and now I am up and ready to do something. Heading off to the store for cleaning products. I've used the last of the dishwasher soap and only have one Tide Pod left.

My second box of veggies from Fresh-To-You arrived last night. This time I included a dozen eggs with my order. I got lettuce, tomatoes, celery, butternut squash, kale, carrot, cabbage, leeks and...

fennel

and eggplant!

I think their might be an Eggplant Parmigiana in my future and a fennel fond frenzy for the hens. The carrots came with a lots of tops and they love those too. I am actually going to try to use the fennel in a recipe which I make that usually calls for onions. I feel well enough to do a little experimenting today. Bring on the scalloped leek and fennel casserole!
