We were lucky enough to be involved in the temporary care of a Barred Owl that was hit by a car not far from town. He has been sent on to a rehab facility, but here is a video of him having breakfast one day - Mmmm rabbit! He was such a gently little thing, loved to have his head scratched.

Barred Owls are neat, I had a pair nest in an old wooden silo on my barn, never had any kittens missing, or adult chickens, my chicks were pen raised. They were very good neighbors, and good mousers, I like them. We rarely saw one in the daytime unless I climbed up the ladder to look at the family, even then there was no fussing. They were used to seeing me all over the barn.

So cool. I love owls. Is it an adult or juvenile? I hope she (as the video called her a she) recovers. We have a pair (don't know what kind) that roost in our pine trees and hoot back and forth to each other.

Here's a bad picture of the wine rack I made with some of the rusty springs, reclaimed wood, and antique door hardware.
