I have had trouble finding local honey this year and my allergies just kicked in :/
Predators are one reason why my birds don't range. The other is my many gardens that would be impossible to protect, and those vultures make a beeline for them as soon as my back is turned.
I just stuck 14 eggs under my broody Welsummer. Most are Welsummer eggs, but I did grab a few Barnevelder and olive eggs from my deceased hens. Keep me in your thoughts for a good hatch.
A nice Barnevelder male and a blue OE pullet would be fantastic.
My honey is a different color this year. The Catalpa and locusts bloomed really well this year, so maybe that diluted the blackberry (dark) colored honey. It still tastes great!
This year's honey on the left, last year's on the right.
Ok, let me just start by saying that a virtual birthday cake is a cruel hoax. Just sayin'. It is like posting ice cream pictures on this thread.
Also, that honey looks great! No stings? When I came in from painting and saw a missed call from you I got a little worried after seeing that you were extracting honey today. Glad you had a good lunch. Today is Mandy's birthday and tomorrow is DeeDee's birthday! Yikes.
I have been super busy painting to get some more pieces in the shop. Today I am working on a changing table to help promote the new Tones for Tots colors. It was a previously spray painted piece (yuck) so I had to completely strip it down. No use putting crib safe paint over spray paint. Anywa, it will be done tomorrow.
Love to all. Now I have to drive 30 minutes to buy fabric for the changing pad. Our fabric store closed.
p.s. Kelly, my sister and I ate at Monkey Cat last night. I had tomato Bleu cheese soup and eggplant zucchini baked in tomato sauce for my entree. My sister had the house salad (she says to tell you thanks) and the seafood pasta for her entree. We waddled out.
