Stella's Social Club

Yep, I have a trap set and it's baited with a large piece of turkey. I'm going to leave my dog in this afternoon, and hopefully I'll catch it. I would really like to get back to the enjoyable part of chicken keeping again.

I was looking up weasels. The first time I saw it, white color is what stuck out at me. This time, I didn't get as good of a look because it was moving so dang fast, but it looked light colored. Mary offered to let me borrow her game camera. I read that foxes eat weasels...........wish I had a fox right now.

Well, my male died. So he is now in the trap. I hope he draws the bugger in to get trapped and this is the last bird I lose to it.

This makes 22 birds I've lost to this critter. I lost the male in the back in the first attack, the male in the front today.

They are so pretty - what a shame!

What kind of wounds did it leave on the bodies? Sometimes the method they use to kill is an indication of what the critter is. This nightmare has dragged on too long! I hope you get it today or tonight!

Bite marks on the neck or face and broken necks. I agree completely about this nightmare going on far too long!

While Fishers and ferrets are both weasels, fishers are native, more closely related to martins and mink, and generally are a dark lustrous brown color. Ferrets are European in origin, and do come in many colors. They are a domesticated descendants of European polecats, and they're not usually found in the wild.

Quote: Sounds exactly like what the fisher did when it attacked and killed my 17 hens, all in one afternoon. It sprung all my traps the next day then thankfully seems to have left the area and never returned
