It found my other coop and run. At 2:30 my dog and I went racing out, mere seconds after the attack. We saw nothing, but my dog knew we were going out and barked before we got out there. My Welsummer male died defending his flock. I put him in the trap and moved the trap into the brush and buried my Barnevelder male.

I've now lost 23 birds, and only have 19 left. I don't have any roosters, so my breeding is over. I can't even enjoy my birds anymore, every day is just more heartache.

Well.............it turns out this attack was not the weasel. Same injuries - bite marks and broken neck. My trap was sprung tonight. And curled up on top of my rooster is a................bobcat. Pretty one too. I've never seen a bobcat up close and personal before. I'll be calling the county tomorrow and letting them deal with it. You cannot kill a bobcat here unless you shoot it in the process of killing your chickens. Maybe they can help me get the weasel.

Could it be that the weasel did the killing but the bobcat got trapped? Bobcats usually take the prey away.
