Oh Mike, so sorry!![]()
I let my broody out of confinement with her chicks. All youngsters are doing well, and feathering in nicely. She took them out into the run today, so we'll see if they can figure out the ramp tonight.
I have to get broody #2 (Welsummer) a chick so she will quit sitting. I'll have to see if the feed store has any day olds.
First day out in the run, she got all of the chicks back inside. Last night they were all back inside the coop and roosting! She is teaching them well! I got a good look at them last night, and I think I have 2 males, 2 females and the splash could go either way. They are such calm chicks, they don't mind being touched. (though my broody was making noises at me)
I'll try to get some pictures. I have to work on honey extraction today.
Gotta love my Hatchery EE broody.First day out in the run, she got all of the chicks back inside. Last night they were all back inside the coop and roosting! She is teaching them well! She takes her chicks away from me during the day, but at night on the roost, I can see them closely and touch them. (with warning growls from the broody)Honey extraction!
My chicks from broody hens always run from me.
