Well, I couldn't find the pills anywhere local. My feed store ordered the copper sulfate, so I put that in her waterer today. We will see if it helps, or if it's too late for her. She is really light in body weight, but is still cruising around. I caught her, and she is now isolated.

Thanks everyone for the help and well wishes. It's strange that it has affected birds so young (6 months old) and 2 of the same breed. I already lost the Ameraucana male. I wasn't keeping him anyway, but still sad to watch him die.

Are the UofA blues getting sick?

Nope, they and the rest of my birds are fine. I have 2 blue Ameraucana's from the same hatch (Easter) that are fine. It only affected the 2 black Ameraucana's. Could be coincidence, but it's strange. Both started with a crop that wasn't emptying, then moved to sour crop. In fact, my pullet didn't look so lean because her crop was so large, it made her look like a healthy weight. It wasn't until I picked her up that I noticed that she was not fine. No free range, no change in feed. I have been supplementing the Bob's stuff in their water, but I wouldn't think that would cause an issue.

I also have 2 hatchery chicks that are younger than the U of A's and they are fine too.

It makes sense!
Fungus is everywhere so resistance is key with it. We also have valley fever here and some breeds have trouble with it.

I asked about the UofA chicks because I have 4 of them that I hatched last summer

Update on my pullet. She is still eating and drinking (drinking more than eating). She is horribly thin, as in no breast tissue at all. I massaged her crop a bit in case there is a blockage. She vomited a teeny bit and it doesn't smell as bad as it did. (smells more like a penny now) I'm hoping the acidified copper sulfate is helping, but I'm not sure with her being so thin.

What does that look like?

A white sticky stinky goo on the vent. There is usually some raw and inflamed vent skin too. Hopefully the copper will not let it happen. The fungus sometimes moves from the crop through the digestive system to the vent. I had one hen that had it once. Treated it with vagicil. I broke a pill(suppository) into thirds and had the hen swallow it twice a day. It is an anti fungal. I also had to wash the vent until the goo was cured.
