Stella's Social Club

Have you sold your current home?

We will take pics of it furnished before we move because realtor's always want that but otherwise it will be vacant. We have a monitored alarm system so we aren't too worried. I was more worried about an emu pecking the skin off of a potential buyer! We should get quite a bit more for this house than we paid for the new one so that's a big plus.
OK as someone who works at staging, if you can at all swing it, have the agent tell you what she wants out for the pictures. There is this perfect balance of empty enough to see it but full enough to be welcoming that makes a LOT of money on a house. Especially when its a market with inventory and you want the Internet to be the first impression ( not that there is a ton of inventory anywhere, as you noticed)

Perfect pictures really, really, really make a difference. It shouldn't, but it does. So shake that agent down and make them do the work of telling you what to move out before she gets them done.

The move and the house are sounding better and better! I am looking forward of stories of Stella staying in a coop, maybe it will help with my cream legbars who are trying to learn to get under the netting over there open coop and escape!

Awesome property Sheriff! That looks like it will a great challenge and an even greater reward!

I did some downsizing today - took 30 pain-in-the-rear roosters on a road trip today. They, and the 3 Muscovies that went with them, will returned dressed for freezer camp. DH wants to try smoked duck this weekend!

Wow, you guys have been chatty!

Mary, I love those coops! They look great! Is the pop door already cut in them, or do you need to do that?

Kathy - I hope you can downsize - that's why I don't collect more breeds, I'd have such a hard time letting them go.

Adorable goat pictures.

I (finally) candled the eggs my Icelandic broody is on. Another egg was opened - it was not fertile. I cleaned up the wet mess. I pulled 3 clears out. She has 4 or 5 left. They are due in a couple days (I think).

I do love it when chicks are with broody mamas!

I just went up to check on my broodies - I have Dusty (a BR) and Red (a Production Red) broody with the same hatch dates. They both hatched out a black sex link and a wellie chick. There was another wellie working on hatching.

Apparently my Production Red wasn't sitting well enough and the chick got shrink wrapped. They were on the wrong nests when I went up to check and the unhatched chick was partially crushed and stuck in it's shell. I used the warm water and got it unwrapped, and it's chirping like crazy. I put it under Dusty (as she's an experienced mommy) and will hope for the best.

Here is Dusty with her other 2 babies. I'll be moving them tonight to private quarters, including the stuck baby. We'll see how it goes.
