I'll check in tomorrow after the horror of an all day dental visit. Gotta' go take the valium they gave me for the night before. I am totally freaking out. I would rather be going in for major surgery without anesthesia than to the dentist.

Mary you just have to learn how to disasociate- go anywhere in your mind except the dentist. The worst part of dental experiences is the BILL!! That's what scares me.

I've been doing theme baskets for my stepkids each year. I buy baskets (from Michael's) or big gift bags.

Last year was breakfast -
Dozen eggs
Jar of homemade wild blackberry jam
Loaf of yeast bread
Loaf of quick bread
Decorated with a kitchen towel and big homemade bow.

This year will be dinner -
Jar of home canned marinara sauce from our garden
Package of dried homemade pasta
Loaf of homemade french bread
Not sure what else I might include, maybe I have enough homemade limoncello to bottle them each a small bottle.

That is the kind of gift I love to get. Really, the best - one size fits all, right?!

As I was rearranging my pantry and storage area, I realized I had forgotten about the few fresh beets I had left. I knew I would be hungry, or wanting to snack, later. So, I put them on to boil as I worked. YUMMY, yummy, yummy ! ! ! I absolutely love fresh beets, smothered with (real) butter and sprinkled with salt and pepper.

Beets - it's what for dinner.

Bonus on beets - little boys love this - if ya eat enough of them, you can pee pink!

I love beets. If you grill them, you can get that pink pee red. It might depend on the type of beet also.

Thanksgiving is coming... anyone have turkeys hiding yet?

Our turkeys,remaining ducks, and 1 rooster have Dec. 7th reservations for camp Kelvinator. The processor was greatly relieved when I told him I don't need it for Thanksgiving.

Boy I wish! Tuesday they go to the butcher and I can't wait! It will be much more peacful around here.
