Sterilizing a rooster?

So I got some girls and one of them turned out to be a roo. He is a very nice boy and I don't want to get rid of him but I really don't like the idea of eating fertilized eggs. Yes I know it doesn't change taste ect, just personal preference. Can a vet sterilize a roo and now much would it be? He's only about four months old, would it stop him from crowing if done early?

Thanks I wasn't even aware caponizing was the term for it, I've always just had hens!
