'Sticky' beak sounds?

I have a hen recovering from sour crop- her crop seems fine now but her poop is still very green and watery and her appetite is extremely low still (I have been force feeding her) and every time she even thinks about eating or drinking on her own she starts snapping her beak in a way that would be normal except that it sounds like there is something very sticky in her mouth- I can't see anything in there... Does anyone know what the sticky sound might mean? Is there something keeping her from wanting to eat?

You have explained the problem very well, however I do not have an answer, but I’m going to tag a few people who most likely will. I am very sorry your post has taken so long to be answered. I hope the girl you are talking about is okay now (since it’s been two months). I wish you the best of luck with this problem.

@azygous and @casportpony, this problem @hannahrosebibby describes sounds strange. Do y’all have any clue what this ‘stickiness’ could be? Thank you both for looking into this.

Thanks so much. I have taken a video but I can’t seem to attach it here. She will peck little bits of food (I’ve just tried her with some rice) but she won’t eat the full grain and just start clicking again and trying to wipe her beak. I have looked down her throat but I can’t see anything.

All she seems to be doing in the video is cleaning her beak on the floor. I detect no abnormal behavior.

Perhaps we're missing what you're concerned about. If she's chattering her beak, you may need to film her up very close for us to be able to see and hear it.

Yes, I can’t see anything suspicious though. It’s as though she wants to eat but something is stopping her and I can’t figure out what. The vet prescribed Baytril for her sour crop she finished that 2 days ago. She will pick up food so I know she’s interested in it, she just can’t eat it.

When the vet weighed her, how much did she weigh? And how much does the weigh now? And how many days was she on the Baytril?
