Sticky butty - 3 day old peachick

It takes 6 days before coccidiosis symptoms appear.

People think pasty butt is from heat lamps, but I have seen it in plenty of broody chicks, and it can be caused by any stress including simply hatching and getting the digestive system up and running. I take them out from under the hen after dark, clean them up well, and gently blow dry if needed before returning under the hen. I'm talking chickens here.. but would follow the same procedure. If they appear lethargic though, waiting until night could be fatal if it is pasty butt.

What is scrambles? Does it have siblings?

Peafowl chicks will do best on a higher protein starter than what is available for chicken chicks. A game bird starter at 28% or Purina game bird chow, turkey starter 30% protein, the added amino acids being key. After at LEAST 6 weeks of age... transitioning to a 20% protein feed such as Purina flock raiser is recommended. I have no personal affiliation or true preference to brands... but I do use both the turkey starter and flock raiser product for my own chickens (and now turkeys) and I never switch to "layer" feed which doesn't provide the protein or amino acid levels I want available to my birds. Also has more calcium than I want my juvenile, molting, broody, and make birds consuming long term. Instead I simply offer oyster shell on the side for layers free choice.

If by scrambles you mean eggs.. they are a nice treat or boost with lots of nutrients... but 34% protein and 64% fat, should not be fed on a regular basis.
