Sticky Eyes then death?

It stared about 2 weeks about 5 chickens have got it, 2 died as we didn't get to them in time. One we have treated for 3 days with eye drops but still eyes aren't open and one we treated and it was fine no further symptoms. And the last one as got it again.. And yeah sticky closed eye/eyes is the only symptom. Id really like to know what could be causing this?

they are in large ish shad and let out when nice and sunny outside, but they have been in there since the start of winter

This post is for my friend's chickens, i have some terramycin ointment stuff spare from a similar case, would that help to give to her to treat with?

It may be a respiratory disease such as MG, coryza, ILT, Newcastles, or Avian Influenza. These are chronic diseases that make carriers of the flock. Sick birds should be culled to stop the spread. If you choose to treat, then the flock should be closed to any new birds, and none should be bred, sold or given away.
